Dad picked one up last year with allt he attachments. I got to look it over and mess with it only a little bit. I was able to score one up here and love the thing. Ive started turning bowls and its addicting. Great to have the drill press, ban saw, disk sander, table saw, joiner, horizontal boring capabilities. ANy one else have one?

When I was going to buy my big tools for my shop I seriously looked into one. They used to demo them at the mall. I thought it was really cool. But the more I read about it the more I realized it was not to my style. They are very compact. But when you are trying to build something they could be a pain in the ass converting it to do everything.

I ended up buying all seperate tools. So much easier. Have seen a lot of them for sale lately. With most selling stepping up to individual machines.

But for space they are the bomb. Got to love the varable speed.

I've got one made in 1948. I completely rebuilt it. Honestly, the only reason I hang on to it is the ability to use it as a horizontal drill press.

:meh:

Went to a buddies to pic up a rc remote, and he had one on his front porch for sale. If anyones interested I could get the details.

Got a message to him now, will get back with info.

I have a 1957 model. Weak as a table saw. Not slow enough for big forstner bits as a drill press. Still fun to mess with. I was thinking of just leaving the 4" jointer set up with the 12" sanding disk and table, cut the tubes to make it shorter and get a real drill press and maybe a table saw. I have some accessories I'll never use. Time to put them on Ebay. (shaper and bits, another jointer, holdown kit) Maybe I'll just get rid of the whole thing. It's not pretty, but it works.
Definitely DO NOT buy a new one. Too many deals on used or you can get all the stand alone tools with better capability for less than a new Shopsmith.

 Well he never got back to me,he must have gotten rid of it?
