Hi all,
Finally found a shop willing to take me in soon, everywhere else In the west has been booked out. Getting the fj60 engine rebuilt ( wanting time do the hi powered 2F build like Mosley motors) and potneitnailly a h55 swap, Jake at “a rusted development” in heber city Utah said it would be about $14000. Mosleys website says the 2F rebuild without install is like 6-7k. They put me at 8 for install and takeout. Got recommended the shop from state automotive (cruiser shop in SLC) ...But Has anyone heard of this shop - a rusted development? And as for the hi powered 2F if we get the correct parts any reputable shop should be able to do that build right? Mosleys build for the hi powered 2F: HI POWER 2F — MOSLEY MOTORS - https://www.mosleymotors.com/hi-power-2f

@FJ60Cam is your best bet. I would rather buy a proven engine that he can do for you, ship it to your shop out there in UT and have them install it with a h55.

my $.02

We do a good bit of business with ARD and State Automotive, and while I haven’t seen their work in person, both shops have been great to deal with from the vendor’s side. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them 👍🏼

Jake does great work and ARD is a great shop. I know that State Automotive sends a lot of work there. Rumor mill has it that state is no longer interested in taking on Land Cruiser projects. They have turned away a few of my buddies over the past couple of years.

My experience was the same. Jake seems like a good guy

Cool, and for the build is there any info or literature you have beyond what that webpage says on the build and parts/tricks used that you could send to Jake if needed? Im assuming there's no kit or anything so I'm sure it would be helpful as we/ I will be ordering parts soon and I'm a bit ~Noobie~.
Thanks for your time,
Dan

I don't think @FJ60Cam will give you his tricks of the trade...just buy his engine and be done with it

Fair enough. I would have loved for them to but their website says they're booked out until the Fall. Engine is all but done and its my only rig so I can't wait that long

14k is slot of money to still have a carb and 2f personally

why not an LS for that price?

I built the swap your doing, a yes later it came out and a v8 went in
Sometimes its not just all about power. The 60 with its original 6 has a special feeling, putting in a big v8 changes that dynamic. Some people dont want that.

It does, the 2f is a great trail motor. I love the low end and climbing abilities it has.

just the price point to do all that you can come out way ahead. Power, fuel economy, and speed

most are afraid of the swap, jumping into the unknown two feet first never having done anything like it before. But they shouldn’t worry we got them and won’t let them fail.

Recommended! ARD is in Kamas, UT now (20 minutes from Heber, a little closer to Park City) I in a nice new way bigger shop... Jake built my LS142 1 step at a time, this truck first rolled in totally stock, and I have been back several times for more goodies

Price point to the 2F upgrade or? Which are you recommending personally?

Unless your building a trail rig, put a v8 in it.

14k for a 2f hurts, thats a lot of money to still go slow when you can “modernize” it and keep it on the road safely longer.

it’s not Toyota, it’s not stock, won’t make your rig worth as much because it’s not “pure”

but it will keep you in your rig and using your rig for a much longer time. Road speeds arnt slowing down, going under the speed limit can be just a deadly as going to fast

14k w 5 speed. and with the build i want itll haave parts that give it 350hp

Only chance at 350 hp from a 2f is with a supercharger ot turbo. And I don’t see a 2f lasting long with boost you’d need to run.

I don't think a 2F is making 1.36hp per cubic inch with anything available off the shelf and without some sort of power adder.

Just from the standpoint of someone who just did a hi po 2F rebuild and new 5 speed... I love it. But that's because of the character part. There are so many days I am pissed on a road trip that I didn't do an LS swap. You spend a lot of money doing it right with Toyota parts, but in the end, you might be better off with an LS.

One thing I really love about staying Toyota is that trail fixes and working on it is a piece of cake and I don't feel overwhelmed by learning a new system. But when I get my doors blown off my cars going over Colorado passes and can't keep up with my family on road trips, I start to think I could learn an LS.

I also know Jake at ARD, you are in good hands with him. I have had him do some work on my suspension in the past.

This 👆 is what I was trying to get across @Beehanger

I’ve been In His shoes And had the same results
