I didn't catch where you mentioned the Slip Plate before the picture is that basically your chassis lube, for bushings, spring pads and such??

it is a type of lubricant but this stuff is more like a paint. I used it in between the spring packs. All the bushings are just greaseable pins/shackles

all these 1970/1971 restore threads have been motivating me to get to work! had quite a few frustrating days but i'm finally ready to move on to getting the body ready for blast/primer and body work.

here's what i've been up to lately...

radiator/hoses - tearing apart the interior for powdercoat and upholstery - running brake lines

i really wanted blisteins in the front since i found a set for the rear but couldn't find any short enough... i took a chance and bought these

the bottom mount has a steel inner part of the bushing that i was able to grind out a little bit with my dremel - it is a press on fit (with a rubber mallet) and i think it will work out great. I need to get a nylon lock nut since there is no room for the cotter pin.

finally new tires and wheels! they are 235/71R15 Nexen Rodian MT. $110 from walmart with decent reviews. I didn't really feel like spending $190 per tire.. because I really wanted the Y742S Yokohoma tires.

I asked the tire shop to put the weights on the inside... which they did but not in the way I expected. They don't rub on the calipers so I'll give them a shot.

At least they put the white letters on the inside. I got a set of those for my dodge ram and told them white letters in. I came back to a ram that looked like it came from Chihuahua; white letters out. I asked them to fix it and they said they always do it this way. After threatening to block my credit card payment if they didn't fix it they finally turned the tyres around.

I'm with you; ruins a rig. Here in New Mexico one can almost guess the nationality of a truck's owner by which way the white letters are.

Bet you'll miss it when you sell it. Money comes and goes but a Cruiser like this gives forever.

alright so i've moved onto the body work (lots of bondo lots of rust) same old story but i'm trying to get most of the big stuff off before i get it blasted.

in the mean time there is another project that is taking up quite a bit of my time and is incorporating a lot of the skills I have learned building cruisers.... I'll let the video speak for itself..

it's been a long time since my last post but I've been keeping busy... let's see if I can catch up with this thread.

i finally got everything blasted and brought my cruiser home to my garage

when i brought the truck home my garage wasn't quite bright enough to see what I was doing so I installed some lighting.

here you can see the amount of bad sheet metal - I didn't think it was that bad... :/

been busy filling all the extra holes and cutting out/replacing all the bad metal.

I bought a 36'' metal brake from tractor supply that works pretty well. I figure I can make my own rocker panels and put the money I saved by making my own into new tools

tool box all fixed up with new support brackets made for the rocker panel

cleaned/primed/painted all the hard to reach places.

all mocked up and ready for welding
