11.37 mpg out of the last tank of fuel. I feel pretty good about that given the headwind I was driving into yesterday, the drive up the pass to the ski mountain, and the heavy right foot.

@thatcabledude what headlights are you running in your 40? I saw a pic you posted somewhere and they looked pretty legit.

Haven't seen your build thread yet!

The City Racer LEDs. Irresistible for the price and I like the look.

Yeah man, I know. I’m so dang lazy when it comes to posting anything besides weird stuff I see on the road lol. I’ll start it one day.

I noticed a different kind of puddle under my 40 yesterday when I was plugging my truck in, decided took at it today. The hose clamps around the Gano filter were all pretty loose. A quick turn of the trust yellow Klein nut driver and it felt good, poured about a half gallon of coolant in to top it off.

Might as well start it to circulate some coolant at -5°.

Cold kills batteries dead.

I'd also like to bitchslap the dirtbag that put this hose clamp on like this.

Oh. Wait a sec....

I had a minor leak this morning on my lower radiator hose. I'm using original hoses, but, I switched out to band clamps with worm gear because the wires were basically shearing the hose. I don't recommend doing what I did. Anyway, I wonder if they loosen up over time, mine was kinda loose? Also, I wonder how much force a Gano filter will take before it gives up? I'd say that your motor is healthy enough to not wear one. On mine, I just watched the rust flow thru it for the most part, but, the opaque 5/8" filter on the heater line was a bit more catching of stuff. A several gallon sample run thru a coffee filter on the bench didn't reveal much on mine, I bet it is still stuck, or whatever.

Just make sure your coolant has enough freeze protection for your current weather.

That's why I popped the hood today, I was fearing a popped freeze plug. Last time I checked the coolant was good to the -30° ballpark.

Pulled the choke

Pumped the pedal twice, held it to the floor

Turned the key over, and boom! The mighty 2F is alive!

The battery charger gets all the credit right now.

I let it run for about 30 minutes to come up to temp and get the blood flowing, I might check some stuff out later, if I have any time. If not, I'll probably just relax by the fire and keep feeding it logs!

We’ve been in Salmon since Monday visiting my folks. Thursday and yesterday were definitely nippy! Ice tent and a heater are a requirement. Merry Christmas.

I love that area.
