I have never had any problem with my 12 ton press and any bushing or bearing so far. I have bent the bottom H channel however when the press tools were misaligned. Bad stuff can happen with them, so I throw a welding blanket over what is being pressed and I wear my safety glasses.
Also moved two of the original bolts down on the uprights for support. Steel is soft as butter. I'm going to put some pipe on those two lower support bolts to make it rigid.
If this thing explodes something is bad wrong. Tell me if there's anything else to modify other than welding in some support steel.
where can I purchase a press jack like the you show in your picture? I'd like to upgrade from the 20t hyd bottle jack to something more, er, sexy (w/o breaking the bank)

Don't know, they come on that type of press, other types of presses would need some mods. I just upgraded to a 20t air/hydraulic from Harbor Freight, more gooder!
Finally got around and did the same to my 12-ton HF. Wow. what the difference it has made! what used to be a wobbling frame; now it won't budge even under stress. Thank you guys and thank mud!
PS:
I know some of you may despise the HF tools, but this one has been serving me well - from bearing press to straighten bent vise handle. The best $100 spent...
got the job done too... i tried my home made TUNDRA press ( LOL) to repalce iron man bushing- no luck, i thought of going to the auto shop this morning. I bought a cheap press ( $69 ) from harbor frieght instead of paying the mechanic. Succes!!!
I am glad this thread exists... It gives me a few ideas on how to upgrade my 12t press... The only thing that I didn't see is someone making it a bit taller, as it is it barley removes axle bearings from a 2nd gen runner shaft.
