If there’s any interest, I’m offering alternator restoration services for those wanting to retain their stock alternator.
Backstory...
I was looking for an alternator for @JTU’s ‘69 40, and could only find new aftermarket units that all seemed to looked out of place. After calling around, I found an armature shop that rebuilds them.
When I got his alternator back, and put the pulley and fan back on that I refinished, I couldn’t believe my eyes. This looked perfect in the clean engine bay. It looked fresh, but not too new. Still had the character of an original unit.
Before:
After:
These get blasted clean, have new bearings and brushes installed, and receive fresh paint on the fan and pulley.
