Thanks for the kind words. So I am a happy man today because I can go back to being an a$$hole on the streets again. The cruiser was a slow vehicle. It had issues keeping up with vehicles that speed up in front it. You know the feeling. But no more. The little cruiser got a few upgrades as well as a psi bump. The turbo whines and whines and whines. Its the only kind of whining I encourage. Any other whining gets slapped. Then there is the WOOOOOOSH! That ever so glorious sound of air being sucked into the engine. Oh and I no longer need to stare at the EGT gauge. I hate that fun killer of a gauge.
Rob at Odd Iron Offroad has a good mantra. He says every diesel needs a turbo and every turbo needs an intercooler. He fabled up a nice piece of kit including an external reservoir for additional coolant capacity. All aluminum, beautiful fab work. He also added a new custom aluminum radiator as well as a trans cooler.
I finally know what it feels like to go 90 on the interstate in the cruiser and have plenty of juice left under my foot for being an a$$. It feels like a whole new vehicle. Before when I approached long hills, one eye would be glued to the egt gauge and eventually I would have to let off the throttle and be relegated to the right lane. Thats all history. Even driving like a complete douchy a$$ the temps never went above 900 farenheit. I am completely and totally satisfied. Rob is a true master at what he does!!!!! If you have a diesel Toyota and you are anywhere in the Southeast, definitely give Odd Iron Offroad a call. You will not regret it.
So now I am one step closer to never completing this thing

I don't mean to thread jack but do you ever do front mount air to air intercoolers for 1HDTs? If so, you mind PMing me some info!?Thanks for the kind words.![]()
P.M. SentI don't mean to thread jack but do you ever do front mount air to air intercoolers for 1HDTs? If so, you mind PMing me some info!?
You guys can threadjack all you want. I might learn something @Lumpskie I saw an intercooler setup that Rob did where he incorporated it into an ARB bumper on a 70 series. The owner of that truck was there that day and he could not be happier with the results. Rob is not just an installer, he is a true fabricator.
Thats exactly what Rob did but minus the cutout and some smart aerodynamics. Maybe Rob @Gun Runner 5 can elaborate and hopefully some pics.I thought about doing cutouts on my front bumper on my Tacoma to fit two tiny air to air intercoolers, it's a prime location if you aren't running a ton of lights and it is still defensible.
Another one of Odd Iron's designs. The Intercooler is in the ARB brushbar. (where the winch would normally be located)Thats exactly what Rob did but minus the cutout and some smart aerodynamics. Maybe Rob @Gun Runner 5 can elaborate and hopefully some pics.
what lights did you buy to do the conversion, and did you reuse the oem housing and just replace the front cover to plastic?Happy with the lights. I now just have to aim them. Why does the cruiser look so damn fat in this pic????

Those are Depo headlights with clear glass lenses. That's the best option for a projector conversion.what lights did you buy to do the conversion, and did you reuse the oem housing and just replace the front cover to plastic?
Those are Depo Lights with the clear glass lens. The outside "reflectors were converted to a projector HID system by the retrofit source. I used a E46 shroud for the projectors. Because this is a JDM model the inner reflectors are fog lights. I converted those to massively bright FU*K You lights especially for people driving with their high beams on. I basically put in the brightest set of LEDs that the retrofit source had available.what lights did you buy to do the conversion, and did you reuse the oem housing and just replace the front cover to plastic?
I dont have part numbers but is you ask for Nick at the retrofit source, he can definitely hook you up and the new products they have are a lot easier to put in.got a part number or link to lights?
sorry i was not clear. part number for the depo lights
Just make sure you get the one for the correct model year. The lights are shaped differently for the early models and changed in 95.![]()

They will fit but the curvature at the grill is differentI'm pretty sure only the LX450's had slightly different shaped headlights, all 80 series Toyota's should use the same headlights.
