I Put a 84 2f in my 65 Fj40. I had to use the f carb to fit with my brake booster/master so close. New motor also has power steering on the d/s so I can't use my stock f air cleaner assembly. And I just hate the looks of the 2f air cleaner assembly. What are my options? Any ideas? What have you done other than stock? I'm thinking of a 90 degree rubber elbow off the carb some 3" pipe over to the pass side and a K&N style filter clamped to that.

in my 2F conversion (by some PO), the alternator stayed on the passenger side, using the f bracket for it, so it mounts low and does not interfere with the air filter box

the recent power steering conversion was done with the pump on the passenger side: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=8719499&postcount=330

The 90 is a good idea. I would alsu take the intake to the passenger side of the engine away from the exhaust. You may get a cooler more dense air charge from there.

That woulda worked but I'm using the low f mount for my alt. The large alt on the p/s top is my on board welder.

in my opion it is best to use an "open air"filter in a housing. That way get the best of both worlds. Easy air into your motor but still cool. At least that's way we did it in the renault clio cup races.

Another thing is to put the filter not far from the motor. I don't know the theory but it seems to loose bottem end torque. But mind you, this is personel experience..

That is an interesting setup.- I like it. Is it the stuff from the (heep) list you posted? Where did you get the materials?
Well here's what I ended up with.

Yes from the heep ad. I got it all off eBay. It comes with a chrome 90 degree elbow but with that on it's to tall and hits the hood. I ordered the red 90 off eBay and it's low enough the hood clears the pipe now. Total cost like 62 bucks. They had different colors of course.

Thank you sir!
