Just put in my vintage air this weekend (finally). The install was not too bad, I just kept having things come up that kept me out of the garage. Wiring was easy. Hardest thing was trying to get the "V" knobs from my dash to work. They were screwed. So, I used the old choke knob. really stiff but gets the job done. I would recommend it.

Simple, take the top off. :grinpimp:

You did this on your '70? Vintage Air's website states it's for '73-'80. Did you encounter any difficulties fitting it? Just wondering as I also have a '70 and had given up looking.

How old is your Vintage kit?? As within the last couple of months all kits include push/pull cables...

Some of their info is screwed up... the fitment issues are on '67 and earlier....

I did a brand new unit vintage air (July 07 manufacture date) this weekend on my 73. Pretty nice unit, but it is not a simple as the instructions make it out. It comes with 2 pull cables, 1 for the heater shut off valve, and the other for the defrost damper. YOu use your fresh pull to activate the ac and the vent/floor damper. I had no luck with the factory fresh pull cable so I picked up a universal at advanced auto and cut it to length. I think I will replace the microswitch that is activated with the ac pull cable and put it on its own switch. That will allow me to have heat out the 4 middle vents.I am having the unit charged Saturday. I will take pics of the unit and post them in this thread. I beefed up the mounts as I was not impressed with the thin gauge brackets that came with it. I was also very disappointed in the manor that the brackets attach to the evaporator. It is just sheet metal screws into plastic. Not that impressive.
