Not at the ranch now
I never saw fuel in the glass, but didnt' check after it ran dry
We do have the OEM carb, but the float valve needle stuck in the open position and gas poured out of the charcoal cannister.
Dads 89, and he doesn't trust that carb anymore, and had us(Bro #1) put a spare carb my brother(#3) had in back stock
(We have 6 60 (3 of which are running, 5 of which ar complete) s, 2 40s, one of each is diesel, plus at least a half dozen non running toyota pickups and 3 or 4 running ones dependingon how recently we've tinkerd with it, or gotten a bad batch of gas.), so we have spares parts lying about when we see them on a good special.
New carb is not smogged old carb was the original, to the best of our knowledge. Brother #1 swapped the carb out but did nothing about desmogging.
When I got there I was told the carb was swapped, but the electric fuel pump was bad.
That's where the thread starts...
Spent the whole weekend working on this 60 and one of the pickups,(unsuccessfully) instead of my 40 that I was there planning to take for a drive (was able to diagnose starter brushes are worn past the point the hammer trick works, I have a spare on the shelf to go in, but no time, trying to get dads ranch vehicles working again.)
Do I need to desmog this truck's engine before she'll run right again? Maybe I should mail the carb off for a rebuild?, Just trying to get it running for dad, in case he needs to go somewhere the minivan can't.
Truck was a great runner before, after I worked a bit it idles -great- so I agree it's probably a fuel issue, this truck has either run like a top, or had carb\fuel issues pretty much the last 12 years.
