Hi folks,
I’d like any and all input on adding a snorkel to a Slee Built LC 200 Heritage ( Blizzard Pearl). Thanks!

Thanks. I’d have it professionally installed but am looking for… should I or not?

If your intended use of the vehicle would necessitate a snorkel then I'd say yes. There are a few who have hydrolocked their engines and I'd say that they would say yes, but lots of people get by just fine without one. I personally have driven in some pretty deep water without one, but I would be lying if I said that I was entirely comfortable doing it.

This has been covered before in several threads on this forum. Search is your friend.

Here is one:

I have an Indycole memorial snorkel. Haven’t used it for water, but I do enjoy the clean engine air filter.

If you go anywhere with @TLC2013 you probably want a snorkel 🤣
Obligatory photo from a previous adventure with @1world1love

I look at it more of a need based decision. Do you need one?

not really

I'm going to say the biggest arguments against a snorkel are it's going to kill your resale value (in my opinion, I don't have data to support that), and you probably don't need it. A white HE LC is a good rig to have, and the value is very solid. I would not want to make mine the 1 in a 1000 that has had a huge hole drilled in the side for a snorkel. However, if you drive in deep water then yeah, maybe it makes sense. Or if you just like the look. But since you asked, I'd say no, don't do it.

Fenders are surprisingly cheap. . .

Im with you there. As long as the A pillar is not drilled, I might even do one to look cool in the next inevitable Houston flood.

Even if you have to drill the a pillar (I did, but on the inside face), it's two little holes in a place that is very easy to patch. Now if you decide to rivnut, and then your homemade rivnut tool breaks, and you end up denting the A pillar radius trying to pry it out, that's a whole other issue. But who would do that?

I’m going to drive, enjoy, maintain, repeat, and plan on seeing how many hundreds of thousands of miles this thing holds up. Toyota reliability.

Resale value will be a non issue with this HE. 💪🏼

It's cheaper than a motor :D

Having sold and installed hundreds of snorkels on a wide variety of Cruisers.... I can't say I've ever had a customer tell me they wished they would not have done so on an appropriate build. However I've had plenty add one after having to rebuild/replace a motor including the 3UR

Agreed.

If a Land Cruiser is an “collectible investment” for you, I’d recommend other vehicles or means of retirement planning.

What did you end up deciding? Slee’s doing a big build on my blizzard pearl ‘21 HE next month, and I haven‘t decided on the snorkel yet…
