I made a comment a few days ago about maybe removing one of the OME rear leafs from the spring pack but going through photos today I'm not sure if the stance isn't fine just the way it is. I think I have had this impression that it was high in the rear because the rear shackle and part of the spring is so visible. This is the best photo I could find to assess. Thoughts/opinions welcome.

Good the way it is. Rear does not look higher in this picture.

Well I think we have discussed that topic long enough. 😂

Got the frame back from powder coating this morning. It's nice to have a powder coating business with an oven large enough for a frame 20 miles away. Even better that they do nice work. I got the frame and every other e coated part powder coated with the 55% gloss black. In addition I had them sandblast and powder coat the rear brake backing plates and bolts. There's literally dozens of other parts that I will have them do but I need to keep everything organized so those are for another day, or days.

What are you guys using to remove the rear axle bearings? I bought an inexpensive set and it looks like I am perfectly in between sizes. I just borrowed a set from O'Reilly's and same thing. It looks like you need something between 2.5" and 2.75" if you use a slide hammer type remover. I am pretty sure I could have gotten the bearings out with the one I just borrowed but it wouldn't catch the outer ring of the bearing so you would likely destroy it. These bearings look new and they were on the list of replacements that Redline Cruisers did back in 2015. I know that's 10 years but it's probably had less than 3k miles total since then.

I would like to buy something like the Toyota SST but that appears to be NLA.

Greg, post 24 on this thread
shows what I made to do the job. Just ground large washers to an oval shape and a couple of 2x4 blocks and they’re out.

Why remove them?
That's an excellent question that I have asked myself several times. I need to refinish the axles and I guess my concern is contamination but I have just about convinced myself that I can button things up enough to alleviate that concern. That is not without its own effort though.

So you're going to remove the bearings to paint the housing?
Or are you working on the axles themselves?
Sandblast or wire wheel the axles and differentials followed by paint. Axles are out and look fine.
