I have a 97 FZJ80 with 4,88 r&p and shes currently rolling on 345/75/16s which in Ma. dont cut it. whats the smallest and thinnest i can go without killing my gearing. because its runs perfect now I just want a bit smaller diameter and def width. Im in your hands

You said it runs perfect so which is it and what are you asking?

A bit confusing on the wording. But a 315/75/16 is a good match for 4.88's. A 345 is pushing the need of 5.29's

Lots of folks on here run 315/75r16 with 4:88. I ran that way in another 80 series and really liked it. I've run 285's before with 4:88 and you're really pushing the rpm's at that point at freeway speeds, but it towed really well.

I said it runs perfect the way it is, BUT in Massachusetts they frown on 36.5 tires SO I want to step it down without screwing up the gearing.

Do 315s then if it is not illegal run what ya got

It looks like thats the tire Im going with Goodyear MT KM2s thanks man, I appreciate it with the 36.5s I was only revvig at 2600 on the highway and dont want it screaming with smaller tires, ether that I stick with the 36s and put flares on them to keep the authoirties at bay. PLUS Im having a hard time finding new 345/75/16s in a mt km2 anyway.

Ill tell ya, Im having a hel of a time finding anyone that stocks mud terrain KM2s in 36.5 any ideas/

The only ones I know is bfg Toyo might make them, or go to 37s:)

Can I sort of hijack? What's the biggest tire I can run in my stock fzj80 without worrying about stressing components?

I have a 2.5 emu lift, but stock axles.
