Question for the GURUs.. I am looking to swap out my r151 with a h151 that I believe is out of an 80 series (why I'm posting this here). For reference I have a 2004 Troopy LHD with a 1HZ mated to a r151. I am starting to get all the parts to swap in a 1HDT of FT and h151. My question is the h151 that I am looking to pick up (in the picture) has a full-time transfer case so I want to use my existing part-time transfer case or source a part-time transfer case. Ive done some research in regards to this I just wanted to see iff Im on the right path.....

It seems I might be able to swap out the transfer case input gear out of my existing transfer case with this https://www.allfourx4.com.au/Transf...ndcruiser-VDJ7x-Series-100-Series-36212-60120 and then it should mate up to the h151. Or just purchase this transfer case Toyota 36120-60351 (3612060351) TRANSFER ASSY - https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/3612060351 and that will mate up to the h151 and then just transfer my existing TC shifter and shifter bits to get the TC shifter in the same location as my existing set up.... If I am on the wrong track please let me know.

You will need to swap the input gear to use your existing transfer case.

From memory, you need to add a screw in plug to the new input gear.
The plug is the same as the plugs find on the side of H151 casing.
Maybe this one. Not certain.

May need to swap bearings to suit the be input shaft also can't remember.

The shifter for an 80series H151 will come through the floor in a different location to the shifter for a R151.

There was a great thread with all this info on the old lcool forum, unfortunately it's lost in the cloud forever

I suspect your current setup has the rear driveshaft centered? LC stuff has an offset rear pumpkin, so that's something to consider.

If that's the same R151 setup I'm familiar with, it's a 23 spline version of the Hilux transfer case. They're pretty stout and there's a lot of support for them still (Marlin especially). Depending on what you're building, the hilux case has a lot more options for gears, doublers, etc.

i think the drive shaft is considered offset (I could be wrong) because it comes of my existing TC... I have an LC

He's talking R151 and transfer as used behind a 1HZ, in a landcruiser. It is the same h2fa transfer as 80s, but with input gear to suit the smaller R151 output

Just for sake of the conversation (unless I misunderstood your response) I have an HF1A TC currently on my r151, not the full-time HF2A. Just wanted to clarify so all advice give is based off that.
