Your tensioner is in a different spot than mine. I do have to use a pry bar installing a new belt. Once it breaks in I can take it off and on with ease.

Thanks for the pictures. The way yours is routed makes a lot of sense.View attachment 1134311 Here is a bad pic of mine, same as Cimarron.
Do yourself a favor and route it like Mr Cimarron. You move the tensioner back up to the top of the block.
The way you have it set up the belt will be running against the spring tension in the tensioner and not with it. It's just a bad idea in general and mine busted the tensioner within seconds of starting.
Modern Diesel Technology: Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & RefrigerationInteresting! Maybe the spacer bracket is just enough to fix the problem.
I will give them a call, thanks for the tip.I would but i'm stuck in Canada for a week. You should check your local Cummins dealer. They are always cheaper than getting it through a middle man supplier.

That's it for sure. Looks like I had to modify mine to work with the Diesel Adapters AC/Alt adapter though.
I could measure the exact distance between the two bolts and the rough distance between the bolts and center of the tensioner bolt if you want. I don't have time to take it apart now though. I think as long as it is close you should be good to fab one up.

Thats the same belt I use with the tensioner on top.(waterweber) I received the longer belt (Gates K080830) in the mail today, and it is much too long. I am thinking maybe the crank pulley on your 4bt is a larger diameter than on my 6bt, and it looks very different than mine, as mine also has the balancer on it. Haven't seen a picture of Mr Cimarron's setup, but I am guessing that he has something different also. May just be the picture, but it looks like the pulley on your alternator may be a little bit larger also.
Anyway, I will have to try and figure out the correct length and see if I can find a belt that will work.
Interesting, I wonder what is different.Thats the same belt I use with the tensioner on top.
Your routing like my photo on page 2 or your photo on page 1?Interesting, I wonder what is different.
I am routing like your picture(diagram) on page two with the longer belt, and it is way too big.Your routing like my photo on page 2 or your photo on page 1?
