Your tensioner is in a different spot than mine. I do have to use a pry bar installing a new belt. Once it breaks in I can take it off and on with ease.

Here is a bad pic of mine, same as Cimarron.

Mine is exactly like yours now. Dustin told me that I could eliminate the fan pulley by routing it the way it is set up in the original picture. That setup doesn't work as far as i can tell. Certainly did not work for me.

Mine is back to the original routing including the fan pulley.

Thanks for the pictures. The way yours is routed makes a lot of sense.

My engine never had the tensioner mounted up top like yours, so I don't have the bracket to mount it there, did you buy yours somewhere or was it already on the engine? Also, my quick mount bracket seems a bit different than yours, mine has an arm that comes off the main mount for mounting the tensioner, and it looks like you had yours mounted directly to the main mount, and there is no recess for the arm. I just don't get why he would send the wrong belt to make it work. I really wish I could get ahold of Dustin or anyone else at Duiser to get some info on what they intended. I mean they are doing this conversion for people, how are they setting it up for their customers' rigs, so frustrating. Would be nice to get their input before spending more money.

Duiser just posted a video of their latest conversion, and it looks like they have it setup the same way I do, and it seems to run okay. So I think I am going to leave it as is until I can source that bracket to mount it up top, and get that longer belt so I can route it the way you guys did with much better wrap on the alternator.

Here is the video they posted:

Do yourself a favor and route it like Mr Cimarron. You move the tensioner back up to the top of the block.
The way you have it set up the belt will be running against the spring tension in the tensioner and not with it. It's just a bad idea in general and mine busted the tensioner within seconds of starting.

Mine came with the bracket. I see what you mean about the spacer bracket moving it off to the side.
It may bo ok but you are still in the situation where the belt is running against the tensioner rather than with it. I would at least get a longer belt and put more wrap on the alternator. I think you are supposed to have close to a 180 degree wrap on stuff like that. Definitely not an expert though.

Interesting! Maybe the spacer bracket is just enough to fix the problem.

It seems like it would be difficult to change the belt with the tensioner way down there. Having it up top makes it real easy. It's the same way on my Ford 7.3, on top.

Good stuff guys! I love threads like this where everyone can learn something.

I would but i'm stuck in Canada for a week. You should check your local Cummins dealer. They are always cheaper than getting it through a middle man supplier.

I will give them a call, thanks for the tip.

That's it for sure. Looks like I had to modify mine to work with the Diesel Adapters AC/Alt adapter though.
I could measure the exact distance between the two bolts and the rough distance between the bolts and center of the tensioner bolt if you want. I don't have time to take it apart now though. I think as long as it is close you should be good to fab one up.

Don't worry about getting measurements, I think I will just buy one.

(waterweber) I received the longer belt (Gates K080830) in the mail today, and it is much too long. I am thinking maybe the crank pulley on your 4bt is a larger diameter than on my 6bt, and it looks very different than mine, as mine also has the balancer on it. Haven't seen a picture of Mr Cimarron's setup, but I am guessing that he has something different also. May just be the picture, but it looks like the pulley on your alternator may be a little bit larger also.

Anyway, I will have to try and figure out the correct length and see if I can find a belt that will work.

Thats the same belt I use with the tensioner on top.
