Didn’t know until I was under one today, and never seen it mentioned… The 4x4 Colorado has a trans pan on their 4l60 that was made to clear the passenger side drop front driveshaft. Same valve body underneath.

Should be a big help for anyone who is tight.

Wow this would have been handy before I bought a whole new skinny front driveshaft.

Looks like Pn 24240206 (not confirmed)

Good find! @thatcabledude

Thank you for the share on that one!

Even with a smaller diameter driveshaft, I've already dented my trans pan. I'll be trying this out.

What are you at stock height? Which transmission do you have?
Believe it or not, no. OME J springs up front (just switched to 3" Dobinson's) w/ a 4L60.

It seems to have self clearanced in the first couple wheeling trips. But, it definitely made contact a few times, pan is dented and the driveshaft is missing paint (and the sticker, haha) in the corresponding area.

Maybe I have the alignment of the engine off a bit? The mounts came loose early on in testing it out.

I don't think the loose mounts have an appreciable effect on those clearance issues.

From my experience with a very similar setup (OME 2.5~3"/ 4L60E / Land Cruiser Shop Mounts) I have the same issues. I got a smaller 2" diameter tubing front driveshaft and it seems to have solved the transmission pan clearance; though I will be switching to the Colorado tranny pan for peace of mind.

The engine oil pan is another story. I cracked my first engine oil pan (f-body). I replaced it with a Holley 302-1 engine oil pan and unfortunately it will contact the front diff housing at times. I will be replacing this with the Holley 302-4 oil pan soon.

My goal is to test at full articulation and then lower the car to stock height if safe. I never really wanted to lift it, it just seemed like the path of least resistance at the time. Also, there was very little information about what was needed to do the swap on a stock height LC.

You can only go so high up in the engine bay. If your using a truck engine or truck style intake manifold even less room to go up in the engine bay. Also the transfer case can only go so far up before it will hit the transmission tunnel. It's all close in one way or another.

Curious what you guys are running for exhaust?

I picked up hooker manifolds 2.5”. I had a shop run 2.5” 2 in 1 out of a magnuson muffler. No cats. No resonator. Pointed down after the rear axle. Sounded great but was crazy loud. I have 2 layers of sound deader all through the cab and rear.

He later added a stick style muffler on the rear. I hate this too. I am overlanding this guy and well. I want it to be quieter. Like I can’t go through a drive through and keep the engine on.

Just curious if your setups. I can post a recording here but it will not come across as loud as it is in person

this video may help. I went with the 18” one. I’m working on my exhaust for the Ls swap. Going cat, 2.5 inch pipe. I dislike obnoxious loud exhaust.

Nice video.

I am using an $70 AP Exhaust XS2588 muffler. 2 x 2.5" inlets, 1 x 3.0" outlet. 22" long. I wanted a bigger muffler to keep the sound reasonable. I do have 2x 2.5" Magnaflow cats.

The muffler was a tight fit to the rear crossmember and driveshaft. The truck does have a deep V8 sound that seems reasonable, but I haven't taken the truck on any drives yet. I might put in a 3" resonator later.

Well word of caution. My LC broke down on me today. I’ve been driving all over the place last several days in the 105 heat. A/c blowing 60 degrees. Temp steady. Building confidence. Pull out of the kids school, get across the main road and dead. Ending just quits, luckily. I’m able to dead stick it to a parking lot. Start troubleshooting. Seems like I can’t hear the fuel pump sound I’m used to hearing. Checking power, etc. pull the back seats. Get access. The pump just doesn’t sound the same. Pull it up. The damn rubber hose that connects the pump to the outlet hose burst open. All the pressure was just going back in the tank. This was a new hose from a Delphi fuel pump kit. To say I’m pissed is an understatement. I’ve got to find a high quality, submersible fuel hose. Probably going to try a boat shop.

Might want to find a old hydraulic hose shop, they should have a hose that would work

Yes there are clamp marks. I put them on. Not over tight. There’s no way a worm style clamp doesn’t leave an indentation. It looks like a cut because the hose split open. This hose was not even 10 months old, and maybe vehicle was driven for 6 hours. I don’t think the hose supplied with the kit was a properly rated hose. I’ll be getting a new piece today. Just passing along to double check the hoses supplied with your fuel pump kits.

I bought a v8 4 runner fuel pump for my ls swap and the hose looks to be good quality. I had to use the lc filter for the 4 runner filter won’t work (longer and would hit the bottom of the tank). Look at the labeling on the hose. Maybe look for something like this.

No one had any on the shelf.
It’s weird (and annoying) how scarce that stuff is. I have never found any in a store besides in box with a pump.
