gave away a bunch of 3rd gen parts and picked up some needed conversion parts this weekend.

Bellhousing and manual 4wd PCM in particular. Came without the shift fork, but when I went to order one, they are the same from 85 on, so I'll just use my old one.

Ran it through the jet wash and shot blaster.

Yep. Dammit. Got the wrong parts. Well, if anyone needs a t100 pan set up, contact me within the next couple of days and I can hook you up. Otherwise I guess im eating shipping and 20% restocking fee.
Definitely is a problem with 3rz build threads. too much info and too much specific info for CA rigs and wheeling rigs.

I can't find the site at the moment but there is a guy who swapped a 2rz and had to do oil pan mods because of the ifs. He's the same guy who runs the 22rte site.

The one turbo site has died. I think it is the one with the mods. There's a FB site that has pics of a severely modded pan that it did. There's no way i'm gonna put that many patches in a pan and have it be oil tight. I'll just order the right pan from ToS.

I have a spare 22r pan if it comes down to needing one for "patches"

Since this seems to be the current thread for everything 3RZ ...

I was at the boneyard and found a picked over 2RZ. Tempting, way tempting, even though there was a bunch of stuff removed. I even went back today to try and talk myself into it. I came home empty handed. BUT ...

What is this? Truck is a 01/1997 2WD Tacoma, manual. I thought it would be a 2nd variant with 2 coils. Did some 1997 trucks come with dizzys?

I found a thread that said 1997 through 8/97 had a dizzy. Two coils after.

Dragged it outside in the heat wave here in MI. Mid 40s. Power washed the engine compartment, front axle, suspension and stuff.
It’s not perfect. I’m not going to completely strip it and paint. It’s still a driver.

Swapped bellhousings and put the engine in to fab the motor mounts. The 3rz mounts sit just a couple of inches back of the 22re mounts. To mock it up, I took a chunk of .25 plate, drilled a hole in it and bolted it to the frame side. The 3rz mounts sit right on the plate. The motor sits about an inch too high, so I need to cut the mounts about 1.375” and weld on a 3/8 plate, add a gusset and that’s it. Dunno why anyone with the skills to do this swap would buy mounts.

I was gonna dick off today, but I ended out out in the barn. Built motor mounts. Pulled the motor and put it back on the stand for assembly. Scraped the frame rails and painted everything with rust inhibitor now that’s there’s no 22re supplied rust proofing left. Swapped in the 3rd gen dual diaphragm booster and bigger bore master. Fits like it was made to go there. No modifications at all. I did a lot of searching and read a lot of different opinions on what would work. So far, the 3rd gen booster fits great.

Yep, easy install. And very worthwhile over the single diaphragm booster.

So the stock fuel line fitting is 14mmx 1.5. Nobody seems to make a 14mmx 1.5 union to put the stock fuel line together with a piece of store bought steel fuel line to extend the line from the right to the left side of the engine compartment. A compression fitting would probably work with 35 psi, but it's near the exhaust and a leak could be catastrophic.

But a number of fuel filters have a 14mm x 1.5 inlet and outlet. having an extra fuel filter that you can actually reach wouldn't be a horrible idea.
Wix filter's page has an application chart. Catalogs

The 33625 is the smallest, but is for a Geo Storm and wasn't available at my local NAPA. 33236 is for a 00-05 Toyota and was available, it just has a goofy shape that might not package as cleanly.

Are you looking for something male x male, or female x female? For male x male you could make something from tubing and nuts. For the female x female, the short hose that runs from the top of the tank to the frame might work. At least that was my thought for a solution.

Edit: I was considering relocating the filter to the passenger side frame too. Where the 3RZ filter is now is about as silly as where the 22RE filter is located. My thoughts were to route the fuel similar to what I did on the 2FE in my FJ40 ... hard line along the passenger frame, hose to filter mounted on frame, OEM 3FE hose to hard line that runs behind the valve cover to the manifold.

The only difference is the exhaust manifold on the 3RZ. But, I have an idea on that too that I will evaluate once I have the engine.

I found a 5/16 line and compression fitting to be the same size after removing the factory coating on the Toyota fuel line but I understand the worry. I was checking my compression fitting constantly for about a month until I finally felt comfortable. I may have bought something like this Fuel Line Repair Kit but in the end I think I used the Taco line and only the 5/16 compression fitting from the kit

Female on both ends. A union would have been perfect, but not easily available.

I bought a new filter for under the intake. They are supposed to be lifetime, and probably will be with a 2nd filter upstream. The one on the frame rail where the rubber hose used to attach to the hard line will get changed regularly and I can forget about the one under the intake for many years. It has the banjo fittings I need for the fuel rail and a 14mm female for the other end of my hard line.

I used Braided SS and AN6 fittings to replace factory soft fuel lines. I had to relocate the fuel filter to passenger inner fender. Used compression fittings on metric to AN6 at filter.
