Almost.

I got the other side apart and all the parts washed and ready for blasting. The bad bearing spindle is marred but the new bearings feel pretty good dry fit on there. I'm going to have one of the guys in the machine shop at work take a look. He has more experience with bearing fit issues.

Man I love reading this thread. It just makes me want to learn more and try stuff stuff that I really thought was beyond my reach.

Just a question that goes way back to when you were doing the door bottoms. Why weld all the way across the panel risking warpage as opposed to doing a series or 2 of tacks then filling with the silicon bronze?

Thanks so much for all the info you have posted here and elsewhere!

Silicone bronze may not have made a significant difference but could have helped if maybe I went hot a moved fast and kinda soldered it in. I was able to hammer and spread the metal pretty good. I will deffinitely take more time to explore options next time.

congrats.

Thanks Wayne

Works great.

Even the snap on sockets which are thicker but still a press design that tend to spread...

Very nice solid solution..

i bought a set of 3/4" drive sockets from PrincessLotto about 20 years back. their 2 1/8" is really beefy and works fantastic. the rest of the sockets in the set have made excellent seal installers. just a option to those looking.
as usual, Kevins work is top notch.

'nuther day, 'nuther part

I need a couple of these as mine are beat up.

Yeah, I painted some of the bolt together surfaces. Not the shim/TRE or any bearing surface, but the bolt/flange connections and such. Should work out ok.

I've had that problem too. Then I try something Kevin-like and realise rather rudely that I'm still mortal after all.

one in - the u-bolts are still on the way so the old ones can hold it together for now.

Did the shackles comes from Kurt or did you already have them? I'm wondering if those "triangles" are still shipped by OME or if they've been replaced these days by the more "simple" ones I put on?

Its just that seeing hoe he does it in such detail make you want to try. I'll never be that good but I'll be better than I was just for giving it a shot.

They were part of the full kit from Kurt and were shipped direct from OME/ARB
