The 80 started last Thursday. I tried to restart and she will crank, but will not turn over. Something out of the ordinary that I noticed is that my ScanGauge which is always connected to my OBD 2 port is not turning on. I have a sneaking suspicion that the who items are linked.

Any advise on how to remedy the situation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Sammi

Isn't the ODB2 powered by the ECU? Unplugged the SG, and when you turn the ign on do you get the CEL light?

My SG starting turning itself off and on all day and night. Killed my battery. Once I removed it and recharged my battery I was fine.

Maybe the wrong path, but seems sometime back someone had a similar issue with a SG plugged in.

The SG and car were working on Thursday. Something else. I am not able to shift out of park with I am in acc mode on the ignition. Usually you are able to shift with your foot on the brake and the car off with the ignition turn to acc mode.

First, please clarify....When in ACC, foot on brake, you still cannot shift out of park?

Any other power items not turning on?

Did you check fusable link?

@NLXTACY NSS=?

My bigger concern is why she decided to not start. This is what has me vexed at the moment.

neutral selector switch

I would start with the NSS issue. I thought that most NSS issues would not allow starter to crank.

But your saying she will crank, just not start. Has to be fuel or spark. Both are computer driven. Do you smell fuel after turning it over a bunch?

I would unplug the scangauge, check for a CEL. If no CEL then check your fuses with a volmeter on ohm's or continuity test mode if you're has a seperate one that just beeps when there is continuity. If you still have no CEL I'd look into you ECU.
ECU good? ---> test MAF, MAF good? ---> check CPK and CPS. Still nothing? Check all the little ground wires on the engine wiring harness.

and I hope it is not too much to ask where is the NSS located so that I can F with it?

I'm interpreting this as the starter works, turns the motor, if so the NSS is working?

but will not turn over.

Guessing this indicates, it turns but doesn't fire up?

Guessing, with the key to run, there is no CEL? If so, there is no power to the ECU and SG, therefor, wont run. Is there power at the B+ in the diagnostic connector, fusible link, EFI relay, fuse, bad connection?

Correct

No cell, that is correct, checkING those other areas again now

What battery are you using that the scan gauge turning on and off can kill it?

I've run my truck for 10+ hours with the key in the on position, playing music, and even moving the windows up and down a few times; then woke up and it turned over.
