I usually for through all before wheeling, but that's been infrequently enough that I've slacked.

Won't happen again. Glad it happened when it did very close to home.

Still have a thunk or click I can't locate coming from the DS front.

Do you "feel" that clunk? If so, how does it manifest?

Don't feel it, but hear it.

It typically is most noticeable upon take off, yet I can hear it specifically emanating from the DS.

All u joints (yeah, all 4 of the damn things) are tight, as are the output flanges.

Wheel and hub studs (minus one, now) are tight.

The only thing I didn't think to check until this exact moment was anything on the caliper.

What say you, Mr. Busey?

I know this sounds strange.

Check the front cab mount bolts. The front cab mounts are "at your feet" and if the bolt is loose you will get a clunk or pop that suggests suspension.

Can you expound on this? Or maybe Chris can post up pics? I've felt a clunk at my feet while wheeling and just figured it was bad bushings on the control arm.

Check your sliders, Jon. The front foot on mine started pounding on the floorboard last year and had me concerned.

Checked everything, to no avail.

Pulled sliders for surgery and sound was gone (they were tight, but I couldn't see where it'd been hitting the floor until after removed. Wouldn't have thunk it was the cause until after pulling).

Think you have MTs.

Answered my own question....not wheel bearings but far, far worse.

I hate when I realize my own stupidity, but this is one of those instances where it's possibly valuable to others and may save carnage.

I checked everything but this during a road side inspection this morning.

Oh damn!

I suppose I should double check my own work. Eek

Forgot are you running the Poly Perf chromoly axles?

They like to shear hub studs.
