Yeah of course I am not serious ever thinking this is a Land Cruiser engine, but I just love seeing some cool innovative stuff. This is basically what I think TLC4x4 should be doing with a new I6, but I digress.

Finally finished the intakes

So the numbers I have turned out as:

Combustion chamber - 83cc's
Exhaust runner stock 98.5cc's
Exhaust runner ported 101.5cc's
Intake stock 111cc's
Intake ported 116.5cc's

The combustion chamber is 83cc's and the stock exhaust runners are just under 99cc's. I am going to wait until I am back at the hospital and grab some 10cc, 20cc and 60cc syringes to do the stock intake runner and the ported intake and exhaust runners.

Since I have had a difficult time getting access to a flow bench to test my head, I will be going off of runner volume making sure they are equal or very close at least initially.

Big thanks to @Saito! He generously offered to send me a 1FZ-FE head on his dime so that I could chop it up and see what was inside. This could make porting a lot less nerve racking! It arrived today and now I just need to find a shop/person with a decent horizontal bandsaw that will let me get to cutting if I buy them a few new bands......

I thought this would be kind of a funny demonstration for anyone that hasn't seen just how beefy the 1FZ bottom end is. These two rods are both done by Carrillo/Penkl they are both about $2300 a set. The little tiny rods are for you know just a 900hp V8..... the other rather rotund rod is the 1FZ rod! And if you remember this rod is even 20% lighter than the stock rod! Short of a diesel there aren't many bottom ends near this strength.

Weights
900+ Hp V8 rod - 535g
1650+ hp 1FZ rod - 760g
Stock 1FZ rod - 910g

I don't know why I find these comparison pictures so funny.

So the wrist pins arrived from TRD for the other project I am working on and I found it very funny that a Japanese Company operating in the US would go to a small/tiny company in Italy for their wrist pins. They are from a company called Veca, that I can not even really find any information on. Either way still kind of cool. But it really highlites the fact the 1FZ was never meant to rev much over it's 5500rpm redline with these massive steel girders inside. lol. With all the bearing surface area you can tell it was meant to run at slow speeds forever.

Not a huge deal, this is Robbie's port job but you can still see it in the second port from the left on the right wall and this is after he has worked on it. Stock it is even more dramatic. I was able to get rid of it, but like I said it was a little nerve racking not knowing why only that one cylinder has it and what could be underneath.

Right, and you will see how much material you have to remove to get rid of that inside the runner. I bet it is close to 1/4" at the high side. That is what I meant when I said it would be nice to have a practice head to be able to just cut on with reckless abandon so you could see what was behind there or how much area you could remove. But I feel pretty good about where my head is right now, I didn't do a lot of port reshaping, just a little and mostly a lot of clean up.

Ugh this makes me sick to my stomach. Just shipped my trucks across the country and the shipper left the door open backing off the trailer and stuffed the door into the side of the trailer.

So fortunate that Cdan was there to witness it all. But looks like my newly painted LX is likely going to need a new door and hopefully the pillar where the hinges are mounted isn't bent. And yes that is as closed as the door gets, it is hanging 2" low at the rear. ****! I shipped this truck across the country from Oregon to Virginia and back to Utah to get a clean cruiser. And of course the paint is non-factory. :-(

Thanks man, they are taking it to Cdan's body shop. The situation is kind of odd since I contracted with one company who subcontracted it out to another company. They don't want to turn it over to insurance so we will see what actually happens.

Haha you and me both!!! This one has been one of the most trying. The other 80 went together pretty easily in comparison and my 55 it took years even when I was actively pushing to get it done. This one has been on the back burner, but yeah still way too many issues.

- cracked new head
- snapped new camshafts
- wrong sized wrist pins with custom rods and pistons
- "upgraded" to the wrong steering wheel
- probably several more. lol

Man, that is a real bummer. Reminds me of a while back when we shipped a couple vehicles from one building to another for Auto Show prep. The internal delivery driver couldn't get out of the vehicle through the door because of the confined space in the truck, so he shimmied out the window and crawled, on his hands and knees, along the side of the roof. Left dents the whole way. $10k in repairs were needed to fix the dents and re work the show-quality paint for 7 dents. ugh.

I deal with a lot of different auto transporters and unfortunately this is a more common sight than you would like to think. I saw you posted that they don't want to go through insurance...make them go through it. Insurance companies are a PIA to deal with, but trying to deal with the supervisor of a trucking company is even worse. Good luck.
