Water injection without forced induction? That kind of defeats the purpose of water/meth injection. lol.

Cold air and higher octane- Never a bad thing! Timing and other things may help a water injection situation. I think it would be much more helpful on a motor with higher compression but I want to see what it will do to our motor. The thing is its nearly free with a little ingenuity!

Yeah I don't know about that. Stock 80's IAT's are only a few degrees over ambient when moving, and the 80's ECU doesn't have adjustable timing related to octane like newer cars it only adjusts timing in relation to knock which you shouldn't see stock with decent gas. I would never tell someone not to try something, and if you are going to add FI later I think it is a great addition but on the stock truck I would bet you see zero difference.
Wouldn't you be able to further advance the base timing to take advantage of the higher octane? Would there be much (any?) benefit to that?
Well I hope your wrong. LOL! I know I can see a difference in power here on hot days from say right now it is 48 degrees outside but later today it will be 90. I can usually see a difference between morning and afternoon. Colder is always going to make more power. Pinging is also relevant now on hot days. You could possibly advance base timing which can have some seat of the pants advantage? Decent gas is also something we dont always have and is far more expensive in Central Oregon than most places. So I am hoping the cost to power is better than zero since I have the parts already from various projects (non automotive). I will however be adding FI later. Just trying to document cost to power on various steps. Hopefully it helps someone. Now lets get back to some uber drool pics of your project. I am too lazy to even do a thread on mine so I have no business taking up space here!

Thanks! I am going to have a lot of work to get the rest of truck up to the paint standards lol. I didn't take that photo and I am sure the painter took it to show off the the paint, but things like the ugly wheel well and unpainted drive flanges are going to drive me nuts. haha.

Yeah unless you are 3' tall you would never see the wheel wells like that, but now it is going to drive me crazy. ha.

I went out and visited the shop today. The guy that has been working on my truck was off today. So I asked one of the other guys if I could work on it. He said he didn't care. So I went out to my truck and grabbed my tool bag. Got the hood, lights, grill, and bumper all hung back on before they kicked me out so they could go home. Lol. And I am already late for gf plans. She already hates LC's lol

@Rivman1243 They went with a little different placement on the vents than most do. I actually like the placement for the most part, I would like to have seen it moved back just a couple inches or so, but it is basically going to be over the hottest area in the engine compartment, the turbo.
I am not going to use a traditional hood insulator. I am going to cut pieces of Reflectix to fit between the ribbing and then cover the underside of the hood with heat reflecting tape....

Yep had to draw a line somewhere. I talked to the painter about pulling the body off at one point he said, it was so clean underneath there was no benefit. I got lucky and the guy that sold the truck to me wasn't lying when he said it didn't have rust.
Hey Ryan, did they add any reinforcement around the edges of the hood vents where the structural bits were cut out? I've been wondering how my hood is going to hold up after I cut a big hole in it.
