I'd use the badge you have and paint it whatever color you like: gold, bronze, silver, black...

Oooh man that is going to be a slick LX.. My vote has to be to suck it up and grab the gold badges. Something about gold on black....

Black out the ones you have and reinstall. While not usually a fan of blacked out badges, gold on black looks ghetto. Chromed would be nice, but everything else on your truck will be dark so blacked out badges would better compliment the overall look. :meh:

Edit: if not black at least subdued. Maybe color match them to the rims.

Pictures don't do it justice. About 14 hours into sanding and buffing and one side was done. He said if we wanted to spend another 14-20 hours per side we could do another round of wet sanding, buffing and polishing to get the ultimate shine. I told him no I am good with this. Lol

Black chrome for the emblems? Hell no to gold...:flush:

Looks amazing! I think bronze emblems to match the wheels would look tits. If not bronze then a dark charcoal color, just a tad lighter than the body.

Flat black is my vote or bronze

Oh Hmmm I didn't think about flat black. That would give it some contrast without being too matchy matchy with the bronze. I did like the idea of the black chrome but good luck finding a set of the stock "Black Pearl" and the black chrome paints have to be sprayed over something that is already chromed so not an easy fix on delaminating gold plastic L's

flat black was my first thought reading this.

John Deer Blitz black or to save some money Krylon Rust tough semi flat black!

I can't remember who posted it, but in @citadel 's thread about restoring his 40th, there was talk of using a certain Testors translucent model paint over the plated factory emblem to get the look of the black chrome emblems.

If you could figure out what color that is on your wheels, I'd powder coat your emblems that color for nearly free (I think they are chrome plated zinc diecast which is coatable). Only cost would be a ride in the thing if I ever was down there. If I don't get that way, it'd still be cool to contribute.

Beautiful!! Keep it black, don't draw attention to emblems. Flat would be cool. I really like this build a lot. I always look forward to the next step. Keep it up!

Thanks that means a lot from a shop that turns out some nice projects!

Dude, that's an awesome offer! But you already made a huge contribution! Besides I really do feel like the emblems are plastic?? I would have to dig one out of the misplaced parts boxes but I think they are?

There isn't really a place for this, so I am posting it here since I figure most anyone thinking about a turbo 80 might read this thread. But I was watching Motortrend on demand and they have the newest BMW M4 GTS. It is a $150,000 M4, straight from BMW. It takes the same M4 twin turbo 3.0L and just adds water injection (and the subsequent timing) and they pickup an extra 50hp, 493 vs 443. 1gal/tank of gas. Kind of cool to see water(/meth) injection coming out from a major manufacturer.

This also is not relevant to your build but turbo and water meth injection. I am planning on adding water injection on mine as soon as I am driving it enough to get a baseline but before I add standalone and supercharger. I think water/meth injection is one of the most under utilized power adders.
