Received my vehicle 01/21/2021 .. Sitting for a few months in Japan and then a 1 month trip from Japan and then another month for the Vehicle Carrier to get their stuff strait (1 Star for Turbo Group Transport) my vehicle arrived .. When the picked up my vehicle from the port, the batteries were dead .. I told the guy I want to put new batteries in the vehicle but he insisted that he could jump both batteries and then run it for about an hour for them to charge up .. By the time my vehicle arrived the batteries were dead and they could not remove it from the Vehicle Carrier and I had to rush out and buy new batteries .. Those with dual batteries know Toyota use a Right Hand Positive for one battery and the other battery is the opposite polarity .. This was a BONE HEAD STUPID MOVE ON TOYOTA's PART .. The battery lugs are different in the US than they are in Japan .. There is a taper to the battery terminals and the to of the lugs just don't have much meat on the terminals .. So, I am going to have to have those replaced and I am also going to have them use longer cable so I can run BOTH BATTERIES WITH THE HOT SIDE ON THE RIGHT .. 27F BATTERY .. I have a 27DC and 27F in the vehicle now .. It cranks up very quickly ..

I was right about the suspension coils .. It appears to have a 2" lift already on the vehicle .. The springs are a silver blue .. I'm thinking they are King Coils but not sure .. The shocks look like the need replacing .. They have small pistons so I will most likely go with Kings because they have very large pistons and very little shock fade when they get worked ..

The interior looks fantastic .. The owner wasn't a smoker .. I am going to have to replace the Panasonic GPS unit .. I don't read Japanese and I don't know how to turn on my backup camera . . The new system I want to get will have both a wide angle front and back cameras ..

One thing I hate is my big 13 4E shoes .. I have to be careful to fully take my foot off the brake when I step on the gas .. No good ..

The transmission is tight .. Shifts very well .. It shifts more positively than my 2014 Crew Max Trundra .. The Tundra is a very soft shifting tranny ..

After I get the wiring done I am going to drive it around for a while to see what kind of mileage LEFTY gets .. I am planning on doing the shocks next ..

Oh, I almost forgot .. The center of my front wheel wells to the ground is ~38.5" / 978mm / 97.8cm .. The tires are about 33.25" / 851mm / 85.1cm tall with street inflation .. Can someone tell me what lift I have currently .. Is it 2 in / 50mm or 2.5 in / 62.5mm ? I need to fill up the tank as it hardly has a drop in it .. I'll post pictures tomorrow when I get Lefty washed ..
Glad to see another RHD! You are going to love every minute. Love the name. Sadly I had to put in a new media head unit too since the radio doesnt work in the US and it didn't have bluetooth. It did however have 997 preloaded mixes from the previous owner in Sapporo.

The menu's the media head are all in Kangi .. I can't see the backup camera and I can't get it to do anything .. By the way .. What head unit did you choose ? ..

I think the 6.2" heads are the ones that fit ..

I bought this kenwood. I kept the eclipse that was there to try and mount it in my garage for fun.

Another Nightshadow Pearl Collectors Edition??? Wow. Very cool truck. The 80 Series Collectors Edition is maybe one of the few "collectors edition" vehicles that will actually become "collectible".

1996 FJ Triple Lock, bone stock and everything works perfectly except the "D" on the dash - light is burned out. I am working through little preventative maintenance stuff and general clean up: All hoses, vacuum lines, ignition wiring, etc. has been replaced. New muffler and OEM shocks as well. I took off all the gold emblems and the front and sunroof air deflectors - hated the way they looked. I also replaced the antenna. The electric motor was good so it was an easy fix.

I bought it two years ago from a friend of mine, original owner, with 115K miles.
It is my local DD and now has 135K on it.

Picture is from the day I bought it at my friends house. He was moving to Florida and decided to sell it to me. Yeah!

didn't I read somewhere it's the deepest lake in the world and some incredibly high percentage of the world's fresh water is in that lake?

Yes, its over a mile deep in some spots, average depth is 1/2 mile. Its about 400 miles long, 50 miles across at the widest point, 30 miles across (average) and 16 miles across at its narrowest point. Holds approximately 20% of the worlds fresh water. About the same capacity as all 5 of our Great Lakes.

To say its 'big' would be a monumental understatement.
