Are the Dakar springs stock height or lift? I don't think I caught that elsewhere in your thread...

2 1/2" lift on the springs and 1/2" on the MAF shackles.

The thought I would stop by the "garage" this AM before headed back to the mountains to clean up a bit (Needed a fishing rod also). While moving the springs it dawned on me I had the wrong size spring perch bushings....I bought the spring bushing a few months ago and it came with the stock 25OD-15ID bushings. The OME Dakar springs require a 35OD-15ID bushing. Crisis in the making. Well at least I caught this before I started the disassembly.

Apologies for the crappy pics.

OME U-bolts arrived...I am a couple of months behind my original schedule...If the planets align and I have no other surprises (like an alien invasion) I should have the springs installed before hunting season. Ordered the correct bushings for the spring perches. Had to buy 2 kits IOT complete the install (due to operator head space and timing malfunction). Ah, whats a TLC thread without a couple unforeseen issues!!??..

Are you building a hunting rig or a show piece? Man, that is looking good!

a hunting rig

Lol - A hunting rig fer' sure..!! Good lord willing and the creek don't rise I am headed over your direction in September w/or without the mule. Any news on your parts? Heart-breaker!!!

about to order all of my parts today, $1800 in guts for a 2F.......................I will be out in Sept, up to Maine for the first two weeks

@rkymtnflyfisher

Love Maine ... We are planning retirement up there... Too bad I have 10 more years before that happens lol

We spent two months last year in wells, me

Friends live in Ellsworth ... What part are you going? If you find yourself hospitalized in bar harbor you'll see my wife's friend :)

@Chungas Revenge
Build is coming out great! Love the little things... With each one you can feel your accomplishing something at least :)

Acadia, up to Baxter state park, and just a general tour around the state! We are starting the trip passing through NY, up to Boston, then the shot up north, back through NH, VT, Upstate NY.

Love the little things...

King of the bolt on, rattle can, scrapping bed-liner "resto" thus far....My star pupil is out with a broken leg..Fell off a roof. Said he flew up there, but couldn't remember how to fly back down.....

$1800 in guts for a 2F

Ouch...What does $1800 buy these days for a 2f? Just curious. I am afraid to look at my engine for fear of it demanding something new and expensive...

What does $1800 buy these days for a 2f?

The guts! Pistons, rings, bearings, gasket set, hoses, and a new radiator!

I know there is a point when I should just find another running 2F, or go hillbilly and put a Chevy in it, but the satisfaction of building it myself, and the fact that I know exactly what is going on with it goes a long way.

Just in time to set the engine in the bay!

Serendipitous....

Take lots of shots during the engine rebuild. I am afraid if the "mule" finds out your rig has a new engine it will break down out of spite and I'll need good reference material...

Oh I could probably give some good pointers, like get a GOOD temp gauge, make sure your radiator is CLEAN, coolant flows as it is intended! Full throttle is not a good idea for an old engine like the "mighty" 2F.

Yeah, I learned a few things...............
