Well with things progressing for my Sow I figured I would start my first build thread. I have been getting things together for the transformation of my Stock 1969 55 for last few months. I have sourced a H55 which is on it's way to Valley Hybrids next week to have correct input shaft placed and I will also source a E brake set up from Georg. I am swapping the F engine/3 on the tree for a rebuilt 2F with sniper set up. Tuesday I travel to Denver to pick up the last parts from Powder coating to get 2F back together.

2.5" Alcan springs will freshen up the suspension with some Bilstein shocks.

After drooling over pic's of @riderjgs 55 Jim was nice enough to share his body guy with me so the Sow will most likely spend the winter in Grand Junction getting what little rust it has repaired and any body work completed with a new paint job. The wife and I are going back and forth on what color combo to go with so if you have any idea's we would like to see some options. While in GJ we will have interior refreshed and seats reupholstered. Bucket seats will replace the front bench.

We have an add on AC unit which fan blows great and I want to freshen it up as its just cool. Pamphlet in the glove box was from Climatic air around Dallas which I assume went out of business a long time ago. All the parts are there and I hope to get appropriate belt today from Napa and see how the compressor does but I bet it needs a charge.

I would like to add electric PS eventually and I am curious about the compatibility of swapping the old steering shaft for a 74+ shaft? This to remove the shifting linkage and to allow the PS setup. Can anyone shed some light on any issues I might encounter with this?

I have to source the window seals from @SLOCRUISER.

Front disc conversion is planned and @RUSH55 and I are working on some options to get this done.

planning on some 32x10.5x15s similar to what I just put on my 40 project, just love the look.

Looking forward to some words of wisdom and things that may or may not have worked for you all.

Budget = $5000

Inflation creeping up so $5500 probably tolerable to the wife. She loves this pig as much as her Troopy so shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I guess easier if I say $5000 for engine/tranny, $5000 for body work/ interior plus a little extra... Yeah I cant even add that up, takes the fun out of it.

Seems like I’ve heard of this brand rack before and I need one more clamp like this. This will all be blasted and powder coated also. Pretty darn sturdy rook rack.
The other option is to have new ones fabricated I guess but see if anyone in the litter has a spare.

Tale of two pigs!
I’m going to pull the bucket seats out of the donor and see how they work in the Sow. Immediately have noticed some seat bracket changes. The donor seats actually sit higher then I prefer so the Sows will be nice. However gonna have to figure something out for the inside brackets.

Appears some hamifications are in order.

Man that looks craptastic. Might hold off for a different set of seats or a different mount setup. I wouldn’t trust that.
What are the toggle switches and loose wiring for?
Dustin, I have been looking for sure. I do want the shoulder belt incorporated. The toggle is a seat warmer. the loose wire is there to provide electrical shock if you start falling asleep driving. OR start fire in emergency situation...
IT may be crusty but drives like a bat out of hell although Meat loaf wouldn't fit in it...

Ya know that famous movie where the guy had a chance, one in a million?? Yeah not even that high of a chance

Christmas in July!! Wife and I just got back from round trip to Denver. Picked up the 2Fs other powder coated parts, I think they look amazing. I absolutely love the valve cover. Great father son shop I’ve used a few times. 3 hour drive but worth it.
Also picked up my birthday present from family. I’ve been eyeing the Yoder smoker for a long time.
I’m torn on which to do, put smoker or engine back together.

Smoker 1st! Smoke some 🐷🐷🇺🇸. Engine next 😉👍🤔😏🐷🇺🇸
I like your thinking!! Easier then I thought, even a doc can put it together. Plenty of time to work on engine tonight.

Ya smoker first. Then put some meat in that thing and it will be cooking while you wrench. Then you sit back and admire your work with a beer and delicious meats.

AC experts speak up
So the Sow has an old aftermarket AC from “climatic air” from which I presume is long gone since I can’t find anything on them.

It has a York compressors and the fans blow well but no belt is present for the compressor so not sure if it works or not although I was told it was rebuilt a few years ago.

Today I was looking at the mounting bracket to see if this May work with the 82 2F. I need to get a little further down road before I go down this rabbit hole so I haven’t pulled it.

From what I see it appears the 60 series 2F mounts in the completely opposite side under the alternator. Is there any remote chance a 60’series compressor may work or do I pull the old system and redo it if the York compressor is still serviceable?

The SOW is road legal! Got the VIN inspection today with the CHP so now she is tagged. Great experience with the trooper who was quite taken back by the 55 which he said he had never seen one before.

Order for Alcan 3" springs placed today, 8 weeks out though which is a bummer.

H55 on pallet and in back of truck to be shipped to Valley Hybrids tomorrow. Last experience with Georg at Valley Hybrids was excellent with a quick turn around.

That Sniper is little pricey and I need to check on what the lead times on ordering. In an ideal world I would have engine tranny swamp done prior to the SOW goes to body shop. Hopefully my plan isn't too ambitious...
