Well that’s the original plan, actually body shop wants to do little fabrication angling the last 10 inches or so inward some.

This weekend I’ll take grinder to her and see how easy I can release or free the winch.

@riderjgs had nice fabricated front bumper, wish I had taken pic.

Picked up new springs yesterday. Planning on installing tomorrow on the Sow then got busy at work and forgot em in the hangar, Sunday Gonna get em and hopefully knock em out, and yes there are 4

Dang if the Sow didn’t tease me today. All the bolts with spring plate, came off without any cussing. Took load off spring and dang if shackle bolts won’t budge so I’m just gonna cut them off and buy new shackles, bolts and spring pins from Cruiseroutfitters. I sure was stoked to see her sit a little higher. Guess it will wait another day.

Family affair here, son stopped at “Classic cruisers” on way home from college Friday. Picking up bell housing for the 2F. Gonna wire brush the crap out of it and hit it with some semi gloss paint.

Then the daughter and I just drove the parts pig to another barn couple miles away so I can dismantle it. This after I had to install new fuel pump this week. The daughter really enjoyed it…..

I did get to show her how a 2 way gas pedal worked. Cruise control at all the wrong times when pedal would stick and I had to lift it with my toes to get it unstuck.

Maybe I should reword this, when she gets her new paint I am entertaining painting the TOYOTA on the tailgate. Background will be Cygnus white.

Curious if this was ever standard. Personally l love highlighting the fact it is a TOYOTA.

I am at a crossroads here with my power plant. I have basically run out of time with my engine swap and won't be able to complete it until next spring. Sadly I have everything but the EFI for it. Was talking to another mudder and good friend who is always willing to help me spend some funds. Well the discussion about a 1HD-FT or HZ he has and is thinking of selling came up.

I could easily put the 2f and new H55 into the 45 LV and it would be just fine.

Problem is trying to hide spending the monies for the set up. I can't deny that I love the diesels. Especially love our 3B Troopy low power and all. To truly capture the essence of a rig to travel the highways a 1HD-Ft would be an incredible swap with a 5 speed tranny.

No but that shouldn't stop you. It's one of those things that seems obviously correct even though Toyota didn't do it. Kinda like having white door jams top to bottom so you get this weird vertical stripe effect in the middle of the contrasting body color. You just ask yourself why did they do that?

Funny you say that. Wife specifically told paint guy to not do that. Frankly I had never noticed it.

Welcome to the world of "project creep" Jon.

This will be my first axle rebuild so gonna start ordering things needed for the job. What am I missing here? I have done a few knuckle rebuilds and new disc's so not intimidated by that portion, everything else is new territory. I really have no idea what ratio diff's are in it but are the 3.7's best for daily driver and highway speeds?

knuckle rebuild kit with inner axle seal
New calipers, disks and drums. Most likely replace new cylinders for drums.
I assume pinion seals.
No clue what shape Birfs in so we will wait and see.
Gonna rebuild the long ASCO hubs also.

I hope to build some wood blocks tomorrow to jack of the donor pig so I can start the process.

New shackles from Kurt not going to happen, apparently they no longer have them. Spring pins yes so tomorrow also going to work on what I have.

Easy, 1) call @cruiseroutfit
2) order one of everything for your axle rebuild.
3) Enjoy a cold adult beverage knowing you've accomplished your first axle rebuild!

Yep Kurt's bunch really only place I use. Talked to Jason today regarding the Sow's shackles. Never had an issue and love working with them.

Also trying to find the best place to source some 16" wheels with clips. Anyone have a good dealership with great pricing?

Spent day trying to get the back window functioning, problem was window was up so couldn’t open the tail gate. Working from inside and with some assistance from @PabloCruise i removed the gears and worked the arms off the tracks attached to the window.

With window down I lowered the tailgate and proceeded to figure out what the hell was going on.
Opened up the gear box and of course the gear was crap. This was replaced and I proceeded to get it back together. Before I put the gear set up back in the tailgate I confirmed motor worked with another battery.

Once back in I wired everything back up and nothing would work. “Well f***” I said, unwired things isolated just the rear window control and nothing. Went the other way although I had little confidence the front switch would work after looking at wires going to tailgate. They appear crimped and a few bare wires are showing. With the motor now directly wired to the front switch and the wife pushing on the safety switch things came to life. Of course it had hard time going down past half way.

The wife had some difficulty understanding what the heck I was asking about noises we were hearing and eventually I found found the felt on drivers side was bunched up preventing the window from coming down. Then I sprayed copious amounts of silicone spray around things to see if that would help.

The window now goes up/down without any issue but I’ve got to figure out the rear tailgate switch. Where the wires all come together in the tailgate I’ve got to replace the small board they attach to as it’s broke in half. Hopefully city racer has another.

Overall a great day playing with the pig!!
