When I got this cruiser it had a homemade aux tank in it, but it wasn't functioning. I finally got around to cleaning it up and getting it working. Here are some pics of it.

I agree with you on both. If anyone has a crusty bezel lying around hit me up! ...
Think the bezel should be the off white, tannish one Mr. T paired with this and some other colors. People did so love to paint them white.. Check flip sides for original color and prepare to citrus strip.

Agreed, but that's the way it came. I do plan on taking if off and "patinaing" it some way or another. If I could find an old beat up one I'd trade for it.

For the purist out there, the bezel now has the proper shade of 012 paint.
Now you need to take a chain to it and wail on it. Give it a distressed look.
Kidding! Looks very nice.

Finally got the soft top for this thing! It was the last major thing I was waiting on to call this thing finished. I also got a dash pad from fj40dashpad folks. Here are some pics.

Any idea what size/pitch screw hold the bottom side of the dash pad on? Rig looks fantastic!
5mm x .80 pitch. I think I used 15mm length on those.

What brand of top is this?
Dirt Road Tops....aka Julie. It took a very long time to get it from when I ordered it. She is making them still, but the lead time is long. Worth the wait imo.

Not having the doors match the rest of the cruiser has always bothered me so I found another pair of doors that were in great shape, but not the same color. So, I took them apart, had them sand blasted, and rattle canned the parts to match the rest of it. I was also able to finally figure out what fabric was used on my soft top for the door skins. I should have them done and on the truck in the next few days...here are some pics along with my latest new project.

Alright, since my last post I've done a few things. I had the soft top frame sand blasted and I rattle can painted it. My local auto paint store is pretty good with color matching. I also replaced the worn out weatherstripping around the soft top doors with some new rubber from SOR. I then replaced the spark plugs and wires with some Toyota OEM parts. Here are some pics taken today.

I love seeing fj40s with stock 700R 15 tire size. I have been tempted to go back to this size since I am not off roading a bunch other than beach driving. If it were not so expensive Id already switch to a 16 inch rim and the 750r 16 supertraxion style tire.

Do not order from Julie. She is in financial distress and she is living off our down payments. Dodgy. She never delivered mine. Haggled her for 12 months and she returned my money. Others are not so lucky. Dog ate my homework stuff. Walk away. @RevISK is working to be a supplier/rep for similar tops from Colombia. Might want to ping him.

I bought a TROA top on Ebay and its been fantastic. If the top ever wears out, I figured I can always use the top for a template to take somewhere. They also were very communicative. Shipping took a while probably because it came from Columbia.
