I've been kinda looking for a 40 for about two years or so... this week I found a beauty.

Originally purchased by Elmer in July of 1969 from Fellestad Rambler in Everett, Wa. Elmer sold it to his brother Bill in December 1969 (his wife found both Bills of Sale to confirm). It has been in the Everett area it's entire life.

It had been in storage roughly 20 years, so over the last month or two, he put in a few new parts to get it running (new gas tank, oil change, points, plugs, rebuilt the clutch master cylinder, and put in a new horn relay, flashers, and dimmer switch.

We took a test drive, and against my better judgement, with my son following me, I drove it 22 miles home.

In order to drive it in the 70s with his local Cruiser club (which he called Gods Country), he added a roll cage and a CB radio. He told me some great stories of him and the family (kids in the back) going camping pulling a small trailer. Can you imagine....

Thanks to @90WT for the technical support. Can't wait for the day when I get chance to do a 40 run with you guys. Cheers.

Build thread and more pics forthcoming.

What a beauty! Did he have the original wheels and hubcaps squirreled away somewhere too hopefully? I have a blue `69 in about the same condition with a similar story.

post more pics. Enjoy!

Nicely unmolested, too. Nice not to have to undo PO "improvements". Congrats.

Nice truck

those side steps only ran till 10/69… can barely see the white material that should be there

The white pyramid vinyl material that goes on your side steps is available here btw:

Any rubber works if you don’t care for the white … just thought I’d throw that out there

Also your glove box (pocket) door wire … that part is still available 55581-60010

Good luck with the truck !!

Welcome to MUD

@FarBeyondDriven Congrats on finding a 40 in such amazing, untouched shape. What a specimen. I'll be following along at home as I sort out my own much crustier 1969 40.
