@sofj45 what are your plans for MD / VA? If you need a place to stop or a place to do any quick repairs just let me know, The Southern Maryland property and Cruiser cottage are open to you if you need it
We are going to be at my sister in laws in va for acouple days but that would be fantastic I need to replace a rear u joint have them with me just got done re greasing but the rear is pretty s***ty. These have about 6K miles on them and are absolutely garbage. Don’t buy cheap parts. Good thing is pretty simple fix. Maybe I’ll do it before gettin that far but thank you for the offer we will see where we end up. I have to be in dc on the 26th then will be leaving there probably around the 1st and no where to be after that. Have to be in Alaska mid July.

short day of driving was a success. Only got a few hundred miles in today but playing paid off

That stinks you haven’t seen many Cruisers, we have a random thread for rigs we see around Austin. Took my FJ40 out to Hidden Falls off-road park recently, all the Heep & side-by-side guys were taking pictures of it and mumbling they can’t believe anyone would wheel such an expensive truck 🙄 You gotta hit TLC/Club events now days to see them used …

Sounds roadworthy enough, a couple years ago when we drove my 63 fj40 up to Alaska the guy at Canada border asked if this thing was roadworthy.
When we drove into Canada from Skagway several years ago, the border guy saw from my drivers license that my wife and I were from New Mexico. He told us we were lucky - we had Breaking Bad. To which I replied "Yeah, but you have Trailer Park Boys". That got an unexpected big laugh out of him.

Saturday we made it out to the outer banks got to see the Atlantic for the first time on a great day of weather. Played around for a bit ate some good food and talked story Thanks @svsisu for the place to crash and showing us around and sending us in the right places to have some fun.

Yesterday leaving the outer banks after driving up to cardova to get a glimpse of the horses we made our way to Maryland. Stopping in at Yorktown for a bit to wander around. Made it over to @TRDdrew to get some help wrenching on the cruiser last night. Replaced u joints, rotated tires greased and tightened up front bearing. Thanks for the help, hospitality and breakfast at. 6300 miles down on the trip taking a few days to rest at my wife’s sisters. Have officially hit 25 states half way there and a long way still to go. Cruisers doing great, tempers are fairing well, few days out of the seat will be a good reset.

"tempers are fairing well, "

Know the feeling. Took our kids on a summer-long motorhome trip when they were 9 and 14. Started in CO, went to CA and up the coast to Victoria BC, then across Canada and northern US and ended up in Nova Scotia before heading home. Figured we had to do it then as our teenager might agree to a months-long road trip with her parents maybe when she reached 34. Worked out about like that. To this day it's one of the favorite memories for our kids, who are now late 30s/early 40s. Hope it works out that way for you guys.
Glad you're taking time to see the sights not just blasting down the highway. Safe travels.

If I ever get back into old Cruisers, my dream would be a 70 series left-hand drive gas Troopy. That one looks spectacular! One was being built locally with that same roof conversion. The 16" alloys on my old Pig, now with @greenbeast, came off it. Believe the builder moved to Salt Lake City. Second choice would be a 45LV.

This is the 55 forum. I detect a sin of omission here. 🤣
