I have been collecting parts got my gasket set in for the engine (not cheap). And started cleaning up the engine. Got new injectors installed too.
Hope to have it resealed and painted this weekend.

Than on to the tranny to replace pump seal and they'll be ready to mate back together

Forgot to add pics. I know that's what keeps a thread alive

Is that a CPL 858 with the 6BT accessory bracket on the PS side?

If so, it's exactly what I set up in mine. I love it :D

I didn't have a data plate but assuming its close to that. And assesories off a 98 12v. So everything matches my 1998 dodge. I lucked out and found a pretty complete 98 engine that a piston melted on so I got it cheap. The engine had been opens up and sitting For a few years. In pieces.

Are there any other stamped numbers on the block? I can't remember if the ESN is stamped anywhere else.

If you pull the injectors and give me the part number from them, I can get you real close to the actual CPL.

It's in the post read it you might learn about the swap.

Weight wise an extra 100 lbs maybe a touch more.

Injectors are KDAL 59 P5. 2468. 973. 851. They are 9mm injectors. I searched the block really the only numbe I found was on the head 090297565. Which didn't seam to do anything for cummins. I bought parts the 858 CPL

Thank you for that, I have been reading this thread since you started it and have already been through each page. Apparently I forgot that you wrote about the transmission setup back in whatever page you put that in. I've definitely learned something though.

If they're 9mm injectors, then it's below a CPL 1260 at least, so 858 is a safe bet. It should be close enough for all your basic needs.

If you were going to rebuild the motor, I'd want to look harder, but for just injectors, it's not the end of the world.

That's my thought. Just for seals they all are superseded to the much later 4.5 4bt any way so they are obviously universal. I got some 5x.012 injectors from a local guy here in Kansas City. Probably more injector than I need but that's what I have in my dodge and am pretty happy. Typically a little smoke of idle if drop the rpm to low. It's a manual so with the auto I probably will not notice it.

If I was to rebuild it I would start with a different block and 7mm injector head. Probably a p-pump as well.

Go big or go home. Thinking twins would be fun to play with at some point. Nothing big, good low and middle not worried about max or high rpm that much. That's much later though I need to just focus on getting it on the road

Been a busy weekend. Unfortunately ou get a little bit of time in on the swap between lawn mower broke down, leaves, honey do's, and chasing an oil leak on my dodge that has been driving me crazy.

Did finish up the welding a got paint on engine mounts and coilover towers. And started re sealing the engine and got paint on most of it. Still have the underside and back side to work on.

Still waiting on seals for the front of the tranny as well. Hope to have it back in next weekend

Leaves. My nemesis this time of year. Rake out of landscaping run nascar laps around yard repeat. Clean garage!

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using IH8MUD

Very impressive work. Can't wait to see it in person.

Sold my engine this weekend. The guy that bought it has 380k on his cruiser all original. Doesn't need the engine but thought just in case. We joked that since he has a spare he will never need it. I hope that is true. I love toyota's.

But the engineer in me says, "If it ain't broken take it apart and fix it..."

More of a curse than anything

Oh, you're talking about the 1FZ-FE; I read it distractedly and did a sharp double-take!

coilovers

thought I would post some details on the coilovers since I haven't made much progress this week. toyota is taking there sweet ass time getting parts that are out of the kc warehouse. in talking to a lexus mechanic they have a standard three day turn on parts not in a dealers inventory.

I picked up a set of used king 2.5" 10" travel remote res. rebuilt them with seals and new shafts as the old ones got bent. they are 18 3/8" compressed and 28 3/8" extended basically a stock travel shock.

debated spring rate for weeks looking for used springs and finally gave up. picked up viper coils 450# 8" and 14" 250#. will run with about 2" of pre-load and 4" of compression left at ride height. stock coils are 200-220#/in as far as my research showed heavies being 240-250 range. This set up will give me 160 transitioning to the 250 spring about 1" below ride hide height.

As far as valving that's a craps shoot in my book. these were set up on a newer Nissan x-terra so i figure if any thing they will be little soft. there set up with flutter stacks valving so someone put some thought or random shims in these. i have read a ton on the threads but most focused on 2.0 valving. not sure how that converts to 2.5' shocks. messing with the valving and spring rates should give me something to do after the conversion is done

Got the engine and input to the Tranny buttoned up. It's back in the cruiser but then the wife wanted a new end table

I changed the input seal and the pump housing o-ring. If I was to do it again I would have only changed the input seal. The pump housing was a pain and probably not necessary.

We had a 40 deg temp swing this weekend and my gas tank started emptying itself in the garage which was not very cool.

Lots of little things to do now.

One step forward two back. Got the engine this weekend but went to bolt on the torque converter and the engine will not turn over by hand? Not sure what is going on.

Looks like I will have to pull the engine again to figure out what is going on. It all turned over by hand and with the starter fine before putting the engine in I checked that.
