None of my “local“ stores carry the 3M Black Adhesive (not Super) for EPDM rubber, and Amazon’s third party resellers are back ordered (I’m trying to wean myself off Amazon anyhow). I’ve got a back order into JEGS, but no available date specified. Anyone find and test an alternative for EPDM rubber, Loctite, Permabond, or ??

Napa is a no go for us here. I’ll check out the others. Thanks.

I struggled with the 3M adhesive on the ambulance doors and front doors. Worked well in some spots but pulling up in others. Most likely my fault, but I won't use it again. Someone suggested these 2 products together. I haven't tried it yet but refuse to use the 3M again.

I have had terrible luck with 3m, yellow and black. Really messed up my passenger door.

I’ve been kicking this can down the road way too long.

Ordered 3M adhesive from summit racing, s’pose to ship this week.

This whole process seems awfully clumsy for something needed on every vehicle in existence. Or is most automobile weatherstrip not EPDM? And if so, why is EPDM so highly regarded in the cruiser resto world? What and how do the modern car manufacturers use for weatherstrip and glue? My ‘97 FJ80 with almost 300k miles still has pristine weatherstrip, FWTW.

The best way to fight the liberals is to hit them in the pocketbook. Don't wean yourself off, cut them off cold turkey!!!!

Since about 2000 manufacturers use clips, channels to stuff the seal in, etc. most don’t use any adhesive at all.

Wouldn't regular contact cement (solvent-based) work fine on door weatherstripping? You would have to lay it down perfectly, as you don't get a chance to reposition with contact cement, when applied per the directions. Contact cement is sold at Home Depot type places.

There’s a tutorial on you tube about 3 m adhesive. It really works if done right. I messed up the first time. i watched and they say to put some on both sides let it dry then add a thin layer to one side and press against the other It will stick solid. do small lengths at a time.

I need to figure this out for my door seals. I have them just need to put them on. Too bad Toyota doesn't offer something

I did a little test before I attempt to fix some spots where the 3M is failing on my front doors and ambulance doors. This stuff seems legit. Applied a small amount to the rubber and held in place for 30 seconds and then let it sit for 10 minutes or so and this weather strip isn’t going anywhere. I can’t pull it off. This could be a good alternative to 3M. It’s a little more runny so I need to take it slow.

Excellent I need to install seals on all my doors. Where did you source this glue?
Amazon. I bought the accelerator too but I don’t think I can use it since it’s a liquid and don’t know if I would even need it. Please note, I have not tried this on the door yet. This was my test.
