Hey, all-
I'm trying to figure out if there is an OEM V-Belt from a different Toyota vehicle that will fit on our 3FE rigs that have had the smog pump REMOVED. (original belt is 90916-02193, WITH smog pump in place)

So far my searches indicate a Gates TR22525 or Dayco 22528 are correct fits for this. Has anyone found an OEM belt that will work for this length? My Google-Foo has been depleted. I believe the Gates belt is 19/32" wide and 53-1/8" circumference. Maybe above and beyond the Toyota OEM / Toyota OCD relm, (and I should get over it!!) but thought I'd check... :meh:

I have an OEM 90916-02141-77 for the Fan & Alternator
I have an OEM 99332-11180-83 for the Air Conditioner Pump

Have a great weekend!
Oem I'm not sure, I've got the gates numbers for you if you want

Oh nvm, I just noticed you have the gates numbers... sorry I sometimes just scan and don't read.

Nice! Are you doing it yourself?
Mostly. I have a really good mobile mechanic that is helping me out. I’m definitely in above my comfort level of mechanics.

I just dropped off the block, crank, pistons, cam at the machine shop today. About a week out for inspection. The guy said probably going to need to bore the cylinders at a minimum. The motor over all was tired after 240k.

I’m pumped on having a fresh rebuild. It’s going to be like new when I’m done.

Hey- I got the Gates TR22525 installed, but missed the fact that it is not long enough to also catch the outside pulley of the alternator. I would love to have the redundancy of the belts- do you have a Gates belt that accomplishes this? Again, smog pump removed from engine bay.
Cheers!

My setup is crank, water pump alternator and crank, power steering, water pump, idler.
Yeah, no smog or a/c here either, but I don't have the outside belt on the alternator.

I bought this 80 heavily modified and having no reference I've just been fixing as I go. Now I want a belt on that outside pulley. I might try to measure around the pulleys later today. I think I can do it with the belts installed.

Good luck! I love my slow-ass 3FE with 231k on the odometer. Would be cool to drive one that is like new.

Motor rebuild @247k. My HG failed. Decided to do a full rebuild. When I picked up my LC it was in pretty bad shape.

I’m pretty excited to have it done soonish. The only thing left will be front axle rebuild, and new body bushings. Everything else will be pretty much new!

Please delete the part about your HG blowing, I've been abusing the 1F owners for years and this isn't helping my case.

Well my cousins LC was rode hard, and super neglected. I think he had some hack mechanic do some work at some point. When I took off the head I noticed the head bolts seemed like they were of different torque values. Some were really, really hard to break, some not so much. All the exhaust valves needed to be replaced. When it over heated, the WP was destroyed. Completely seized. And upon further inspection the fins in the radiator had turned to dust, for whatever reason.

It wasn’t all the 3FE.

It’s going to have pretty much all new parts minus body bushings, and gas tank when I’m done.

I need a valve cover gasket with the bolt gaskets. Who are we buying from? The usual scumbags (rockauto) want to violate my nethers with shipping costs.

something Fresh and 3F-E Wicked this way comes ....

these over-impressed me the moment i opened the box , they are simply marvelous to install , then my eyes went into Pin-Wheel mode ......🫨

-
note : you must use the supplied OEM TOYOTA top-seal grommets ..fyi

-
i did a full all 6-Sides restore on my valve cover , i can post the 2-Part surface treatment i used below = Heavy-Duty Tough as Nails !

Buy genuine parts from Partsouq/Impex/your local dealer and avoid aftermarket stuff from generic auto parts stores.

I've been wondering about this for a bit, but have not investigated... Are there any good setups for something similar to the ScanGauge that will work for us OBD1 folks? Or is this a ground-up, custom-designed nightmare that will cost more than it is worth? I got started by wondering about being able to add a Bluetooth TPMS system, and the rabbit hole goes from there. I'm not very electrically inclined (slowly learning) but it would be really nice to set up a system for temps, etc. I don't really understand the tech that allows everything to communicate, but would love to learn, should anyone have the time and patience to help me learn something...
Cheers!

Bluetooth tpms are all over Amazon, there is a Facebook page for scan gauge on Toyota engines w/o obd2, but the 3FE is not one of the engines unfortunately Log into Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/share/g/J4jXvrwe3MFShfm8/?mibextid=K35XfP

Just scooped a 1991 150,000 miles pretty much bone stock. No body rust at all, the underside is solid but looks like it’s seen some water. I found it in west tenn and moved it to eastern NC. Had an annoying intermittent no start issue turned out to be the distributer. I also have an intermittent CEL, a small clunk (kickdown cable or front driveshaft area), and a clicking in the left front wheel. I just swapped out the speakers and can’t wait to do more. This thing is addictive I wanna get it sorted! I’m finding this group to be amazing!

@slimdusty, did you get rid of this truck? I think I saw it for sale in my area. Same year, color, tires and mileage is very close to 150k. I may snatch it up, but I’d be interested in why you offloaded it. Seems like it had a few minor things going on after you purchased it.

Cruise Control Speed Sensor

I'm getting ready to order a new speed sensor to fix my cruise control function. These units are made & shipped from Oz, and have a flat shipping fee of $150, whether ordering one unit or several. If anyone is interested in buying and splitting up the shipping costs, let me know in the next couple of weeks.
Cheers!
