Wheel spacers. I saw this too. I will let you know if they don't work, but they should now.

well about 4 weeks with powder coating and all.I will need to groove the tires when they come in they ar so hard I am going groove the **** out of them.I got 3.5 off set what about ht e cut centers?? what off set did you get Aussierednek? can what to see yours

If I understand correctly I got zero offset or 4" backspacing. This should be the same as the stock wheels. 4" backspacing is the most you can get out of the military beadlock wheels if I did my research right. This is all the way up against the original center or against a ridge in the wheel. I will have to see them to know for sure. With my 1.25" wheel spacers (cheapest ones I could find, probably more than needed to clear calipers) the wheels should be at about the egde of the flare, or a little past. Again, I might be using wrong terms or have them mixed up, but I will post up pics as soon as I get these and get them put together. I will try and document the work too.

Just thought I would dig up this old post and see if there are any updates. Considering putting these on my 80; shipping seems to be an issue. Has anyone dealt with shipping from OKC?

Not from OKC, but from Texas. It's not that bad in lower 48- I think Trailworthy does it for less than $150 for 4 tires. They just pu thtem on a pallet, and ship them to a local dock, and you pick them up at the dock. Much cheaper than delievery to a residence where they need to transfer to a smaller truck with a lift gate.

Just talked to Trailworthy fab yesterday, they just moved from Halstead to about 1.5 miles from my house. Spoke with the owner, great guy very polite. If anyone wants anything from them before BMR in Disney, I could bring it down with me to save on shipping for you. They say they have 6x5.5 double beadlock in stock to make and can usually have them out in LESS then 4 days. I will be getting 5 of the beadlocks from him probably Monday.

I talked to Zack (craigslist okc add guy) about a bid on 10 tires to San Diego (?) for another mudder. He made that guy a smoking deal! I am sure he would for you too. Please, feel free to call him direct, just tell him Jay sent you so he will keep taking care of us mudders. Just for the record, he was gonna ship 10 tires for $850 to CA.
I got my wheels and tires Saturday and these are awesome! I will be taking pictures as they go together. Any pics you guys specifically want of the wheels or tires or even the build?
Was cool just getting to dig through his trailer for my own tires to get the cream of the crop. I really like military surplus stuff. Brings out the kid in me. :hillbilly:

Having trouble seating the beads on these. I will be using some eather and a match tomorrow or taking them to a tire shop. Will try and snap some pics.

If using the ether and match trick, here is a tip:

Duct tape the match to the end of a broom stick. This way you don't burn your hands or have any flames close to your face.

Tried a ratchet strap, but with me, the strap a 9 yr old and a 7 yr old, I couldn't get it to seat. I also have lost my valve core removal tool so I am probably not getting enough pressure inside the tires. I will try and pick one of these up today too.
Thanks for the tip on the broom stick. I am kinda hoping I don't have to do the eather trick but it may be better than $5 a tire at the tire shop.

Thought you were having bead locks put on?

These are hard tires to mount because even though they are a wide 12.5" tire, they are really narrow at the bead. I'm running 8.25" width for that reason (that also matches what the hummers are)

I did a couple myself with starter fluid, and I don't like that method. Scares the crap out of me. I decided that the $20 the local tire place charges me for mount and balance is worth it.

You definitely need the valve core out and a large surplus of air. I have used the starting fluid method before and it is super scary. I would probably hit up a tire shop if they still won't seat with the valve core out.

It worked with one and burned a good deal of paint off of the other. Put on a good show for my kids and neighbors though as I lit the driveway on fire. AT least my kids will never forget "the time daddy lit the driveway and tire on fire." Also a little bit of arm hair was singed during the process but it was all part of the fun. Pics coming today. Good times...

I decided to go without the lock insert, for now at least. The ones the military uses are about 35 to 50 lbs per tire and still wont let you air down because of the run flats. I know some guys cut the run flat part off but I have the rubber inserts and they are two piece instead of one solid donut. I will save up and buy the trail worthy fab inserts eventually. For now I will just run "bead lock look" wheels. This project is about to tap me out of cash though.

o.k., so you have the H1 bead locks, but only the outer bead is locked w/o the inserts right?

Looking forward to seeing them and seeing how they do on hwy.

on a different note

I think people who say the military tires don't flex don't have heavy enough trucks to make the flex. This is 19 psi. Didn't dare go any lower w/o locks cause of the no safety bead thing, but it rode nice and soft all day on the rocks at that pressure.

No, the outer lip is not locked. It is the same as running regular 16.5 wheels without an insert or run flat. I will be limited to 19/20 psi like you. Good to see they flex decent, I really can't wait to get them mounted and run down to the local stream bed. If I can get my wife off the desk top I will post up some wheel/ tire pics, even though they are not on my fzj yet.

With out the insert the outer bead should be locked:confused:

The insert is supposed to make it a double locked unit

Negs, without either the military rubber, magnesium, or Trailworthy Fab PVC inserts the H1 rims are not beadlocks, just split rims. In the attached pics you can see that the body of the rims are just a cylinder without an opposing surface for the dish to lock the outer bead to like traditional beadlocks.

Nice sketch from Trailworthy:
