Ok I am thinking of going this route. A lot of info and want to clarify some things. Im running 315-75-16 right now without flares and they stick out maybe an inch. If I get some steel wheels with 3.5 bs that will keep the tires sticking out about the same correct??? I dont want to run spacers, so is that the correct bs to get?? Also without beadlocks or anything what is the lowest I should be running psi wise?

o.k., so you have the H1 bead locks, but only the outer bead is locked w/o the inserts right?

Looking forward to seeing them and seeing how they do on hwy.

on a different note

I think people who say the military tires don't flex don't have heavy enough trucks to make the flex. This is 19 psi. Didn't dare go any lower w/o locks cause of the no safety bead thing, but it rode nice and soft all day on the rocks at that pressure.

Michelin XLs and XZLs dont.

Their sidewalls are like twice as thick though...

seems like 20psi, give or take, is the magic number without beadlocks

ya', but since this thread is about the 37" hummer tires, that's what I was talking about. Have heard people complain these specific tires don't flex.

Ok, here goes. I know the fzj isn't pretty but I am getting ready for paint. Paint will be John Deere green to body line and antique white above that. This is the reason for the two tone paint on the wheels. I think I went the wrong way and will probably paint the center black and rock ring antique white. Easily fixed. Also, after burning the hair off of my arm I only have 3 tires mounted so only pics I have are of the passenger side. I still have the driver front to explode and seat. Here ya go:

Just for the guy that will axe, the flare is remounted as the fender well is cut out. I just used some fancy screws with a washer and will put on some rubber molding. The other side already has it and has the back of the flare mounted higher. It looks better IMHO.

Those look cool.... I need to save up to do this. Are you planning on getting rock rings??

These actually do have rock rings on them. They are just real simple. I want to go with a sort of throw back look with my 80. They make more decorated rings but I just went simple and easy. Like I said, I will probably go black centers and antique white rock rings. They may stand out more then.

PS: post #100. I crossed a line tonight... my poor wife.

Id do the rings the same white as you are doing the truck and do wheels JD green... I think that would look cool all matched up. BTW what rims are those?

They are the hummer rims with recentered middles welded in and rock rings welded on. The rings stiffen the wheels and protect the bead locks.

So if you get the rock rings, these are bead locked wheels now and you can air down low as you want???

Not exactly you need the PVC inserts

ya', the rock rings are just to protect the beadlock bolts. The PVC insert (or rubber or magnesium runflats in "normal" hummer rims) is what pinches the bead up against the outside of the rim. I never realized that was what did it on both sides until that earlier post.

Tires didn't really balance out real well, but I am running air soft beads. Pretty much everything said on pirate about the beads and these wheels and tires is true, check there for info. I am probably going to change back to my stock wheels and find some newish 315's or ?.
I know, a lot of trouble for just changing back, but these are really heavy. I mean REALLY HEAVY, and you don't know just how heavy til you get them mounted up and try them on your cruiser. Probably about 2x as heavy as stock wheels and 315's. They may work good with regular steel wheels, but the recentered hummer wheels are probably just too much weight for a street driven 80. Just my .02 cents.
My wheels, tires and new lug nuts and locks will be on okc craigslist if anybody wants them. Will trade for good tires and maybe a little coin. PM me if interested.

I know from experience.

I was told differently by a trusted friend.

Im going to putting up my 315 duratracs for sale here soon, this will fund most the 37s.

So to make sure im correct here, if i go with trailworthy stuff and get the wheels with 6x5.5 with the pressed 3.5 bs and the pvc insert i can run them aired down with now worries?? This will also stick me out about an inch from outside of truck? Im flareless and cant have them hanging to far out. I am thinking paint them myself to save money. I dont really need the rock ring, i dont bash my wheel ever and can get them later if I want.

That should work. If I had it to do all over again, I would go that route. Still considering trying to find some wheels to run the tires with because of the price. The bead locks are the other benefit of these if you can get them to balance. The pressed centers should do this and cut down on the weight of these wheels and tires. My centers are 3/8" thick, good for strength, bad for weight. If I only could start over...
