Cleared off 3 riding lawnmower engines and tidied up the garage a tad today after getting back from Mt. Baker.

The Junk from Ruffstuff.com came in so that should do my front end. Pulled out the 4-link and ruffstuff junk and threw it on the bench for tomorrow. I'm hoping to get a cut and turn done.

I just realized... we were pretty dirty by the time it was all done.

Question, Is this plumbed wrong? I have 33's on there and with 36/37's I will have no issues with departure angle. Actually with 33's, I could almost back up a wall.

I've taken some pictures with the body somewhat sitting on top. The kit I got was supposed to put my axle back 6" from stock, this looks more like a foot! Muhahahhahahahaha. Hey if it will work, I'll roll with it as its even better!

Thanks for the parts bro! I honestly see no problems with it, especially after seeing it cycle though all suspension ranges and looking at the Proffits website again. It is back there but DAMN its awesome!!! If ya dont like it Ill trade ya my running 40 on 35's Looks even cooler with the body on! Best of luck- Aaron

Good stuff guys! I love the location. I think It will need a strap-on bumper for street use though if the wheels stick that far back. I'll get the body purty and then take the plasma to it!

I called Proffitts yesterday before I posted... they are moving! Doh!

I'm learning allot by doing and its great. Its only because of this forum and people like you that I can even have this much confidence. I think I'll have to stick to the splitcase cause funds are tight.

Now to source an adapter for the splitcase.

Sounds like your not trusting me... Are you afaid of all that travel/departure angle??? Just giving you a hard time Mike!

Like I said on the other post, we cycled the suspension and there was no binding... I think the only issue would be (as stated) the pinion angle, which we took that pipe, use it as a driveline and pointed it to the "ballpark" area. I say "ballpark" being a rather standard location? If u run something like a toybox or 203 planatary ect... its gona change that measurement drastically. I would personally run a Orion... but if you use that splitcase you would be ok too, remember you have quite a bit of adjustability in the hiems- which I adjusted to the middle of adjustment before tacking. With that wheelbase your driveline is going to get longer (good) but I would still definetly use a CV driveline. I do like the idea of possiby inboarding the springs a little by building a crossmember on the frame for the buckets? Other than that... the mounts are in good spots, ie strong part of the frame, angles, ect... It looks AWESOME to me! I'd run it and like I said... i'll trade you my running 40 Aaron

Joking but thought of you when I wrote it!

Got some done on chia tonight. about 2 hours worth. Sanded and primed the upper cowl. the rear top was getting in the way so I threw it on to get it out of the way. I hope to have the 40 primed within the week... an hour here and hour there.... it adds up.

What ideas for sliders do you have?
That cut line...Is that clear up to the floor board?
Are you gonna WELD the slider into the frame?
Are you gonna weld the TUB into the sliders?
Im looking at chopping the hell outta my rear 1/4 too. Im curious to see how yours comes out.

I really like what Proffitts did with their Yellow Stage 2 cruiser. I'll weld up the metaltech fenders into some 2x4” 3/16” wall stock sliders then tube it at the rear wheel well cut back to the bumper. The sliders should be welded to the frame. Nothing official yet... still have lots of thinking to do on this part

Alright. I've been hemming and hawing about the drivetrain in this. I'm going to come out of the closet and state that I'm going to start out with a 2F with an 85 4spd / transfer case. Not stock for the 72 cruiser, but Toyota. I really want to see how this cruiser reacts with the tractor engine. Then I'll work with Mark from OpenX to learn his ways with the 2FE conversion. I don't care if it goes over 55mph... its a cruiser... and I want to wheel it at 1mph. Do I really need that much power?

Tonight I finished sanding the left side of the body and primed - Also noted that the firewall is clean... sprayed some Purple on it and no grease came off... Cool. I'll prob prime that tomorrow.
