Could you retrofit the rear case housing from the "a"?

All guessing and speculation :)

you? hehe

So who is going to guinea pig this and just buy a set? :grinpimp:

CDan says the part numbers are the same for both cases for the gear parts in question. I am going to contact Marks and ask.

Nay

Any updates, guinea pigs, etc?

the Marks adapter gears with your standard 4.1 diffs give you about 25% reduction, the rockhopper ones are a 45% reduction (but are $200AUS dearer)

An update of this thread would be cool.
$1000 is more than a new set of R&P's, but I would think t-case gear install has a lower banana factor(?)

Anyone?

I'm not sure how much more difficult it would be, but considering there is a differential inside of the xfer case makes me think it would probably be "as difficult" as a gear install in terms of set-up and proper installation.

Ryan, IIRC you dont have an odd ball FZJ80, The Marks off road kit would only work with the odd ball's
Odd ball being a 93-94 with out FF rear
HTH :)

Yes this can be done. I am using a rear output case from a 91 on my 96 tcase. There is no external or internal differences that I saw with exception of the rear output section housing the VC. I did mine for clearance for the Marks crawl box. The 91 rear housing was a simple bolt on replacement. The rear driveshaft is probably 8" longer with the short rear housing also.

There is a low gearing solution coming by way of Christo and I but its still in the development stages. We started this project last Fall and hoped to have one by Moab, but I'm not sure on the timing at this point. It will be a bolt in solution with up to 4:1 gearing if all goes as planned.

The earlier post by cruiserdan points out the identical part numbers for the idle and output gears of the HF2A and the HF2AV. I was under the impression that the t-cases were functionally identical, short of the VC.

Can you tell us any more about this?

I'm very interested in this.

Sign me up. If this becomes real, I may have a nice 60 series for sale!
