I’m replacing all the weather stripping. I sourced nearly everything I needed from City Racer. Really impressed with his products and prices and his delivery was incredibly quick. Highly recommended!

In anticipation of the reassembly I decided to paint the rear door dividers myself. Local paint shop matched up the color and mixed up a small batch. I sprayed them 2 stage, base and clear.

Here you can kind of see how badly faded the dividers were. I marked where they were exposed above the door. The original color is a handsome charcoal grey, looks really good.

A pile of weather stripping waiting to go on. This is all from City Racer. We’re so lucky we have vendors like this that are helping keep our beloved land cruisers road worthy.

And I couldn’t help myself, I had to buy the LED headlights too:

His kit for the 60 includes reverse polarity adapters:

The headlights are installed, really nice fit and I think they look sexy. Kind of a nice update for the front end without looking out of character for an older vehicle IMHO.

And updated the horns to Hella sharp tones. Never cared for the wimpy stock ones but I’m not sure I love these either. I’ll give them some time.

I dig them.

Just read this whole thread from the top. Great job. Brings my fear level one click down on my one day LS Swap. Good luck on phase two.

Thanks!

On the LS swap, if I can do it anyone can. I just checked out your thread and you clearly have the mechanical chops to take on the challenge. Good luck with your current reassembly, looks like you’re close!

That looks amazing!

Thanks Cam! I’m absolutely stoked with how it came out - who knew that the stock white color could look so sexy!?

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Every single time I pick up the wrench I think to myself... I have no idea what I'm doing, and then proceed to dive deep down the rabbit hole.

Check out my interior thread if you're bored. May be helpful to you in phase two. Are you doing 62 electric windows?
Carpet Install / Tint Removal / Wheel rust repair

Did you get cruise control going in your swap? Do you care? I'm a cruise control junky and recently broke my right ankle which makes the need for CC even more. I don't want to waste any energy trying to find a CC solution for the 2F. How about AC did you get that going?

Truck is looking awesome Ed. Love the CityRacer lights and can't agree with you more on the quality of his stuff. I still need to buy the door seals that go around the door from him. After painting my truck in September I decided not to remove them because they all were pretty brittle, multiple tears and rips and whatnot so figured I would just handle them all at once.

Congrats on getting the truck painted. I have to scroll back through your build thread to check it out. Of course that could take a while - it’s over 90 pages now I think? ;)

I did checkout that thread. Nice job there. I’ll be doing similar sound deadening. Got DNP’s carpet kit siting in boxes ready to go as well as some aftermarket seats.

I’m soooo tempted to attempt the 62 power windows. Wish I could find a decent write up; I’m very intimidated by the wiring.

What can I say... I like to tell a story... apparently an incredibly long one at that!
For 62 wiring... talk with @mwebfj60 as he just went through his 62 Phoenix and redid the wiring to make it more efficient. Plus he is close enough you could probably take a day trip and chat with him. I am with you that I hate electrical, just doesn't make sense (yet) to my logical linear brain.

I'm feeling the vibrations from the AA mount. I like the idea of the eRod mount especially if it cuts down on some of that. Care to point me in the right direction that I might find some?

The Advanced Adapter donut mounts that are so often used in V8 swaps I found to be less than ideal. They transmitted a terrific amount of vibration into the chassis which was especially noticeable at idle. So I got hold of a set of TLC mounts that they produce for their Erod conversion kits. I have no idea if these are still available but I love that they incorporate the GM rubber isolator. It was a giant pain in the ass to change these out with the motor still in the truck but a worth while upgrade. Sooo much smoother now.

Here they are:

You can contact TLC directly. Speak to their parts department for availability of the mounts. A word of caution though, I had to modify them a bit to fit my truck. They’re designed to locate the motor and trans by indexing off a point on the chassis. This would be great for a new conversion but I wasn’t about to move my driveline around. As such I cut out the old AA mounts and welded in the new ones with the motor still in the truck. Not fun but ultimately worth it.

There might be other aftermarket mounts that utilize the GM isolator.

Update Time

Ok get ready for a photo dump!

Forgot to post a pic of the back glass installed. This is a new OEM gasket with Trail Tailors lock strip:

The defrosters work awesome!

The rear door glass was a real pain to install but after several efforts I got it right. I’m retaining the lower chrome strips on the outside (and inside) of the doors coupled with new OEM seals. Most of the other factory chrome will be left off however. I think this gives the rig a more modern look and I like the hits of chrome here and there.

Shot of one of the window dividers I painted and the cargo glass with the City Racer gaskets. All the chrome got a good polish before going back on:

And since I was in the doors already it was the perfect time to add some sound deadening:

I’ve been having issues with weak windshield wipers recently. One of them would occasionally get stuck right in the middle of the window. Very annoying! I picked up a complete OEM linkage - figured I’d get one while I still can. Also got the associated gaskets.

Married it all up to the 4runner wiper arms. Haven’t had a chance to use the new setup yet but I’m sure it will be a great improvement.

I put the front end back together with an aftermarket grill and headlight bezels. Quality is definetley not OEM but it looks alright. Took a lot of fussing to get it all fit up.

Here it is along with a freshly polished chrome bumper and new extensions (end caps). I also treated myself to a new Toyota badge:

It was incredibly satisfying when this baby clicked into place. She’s officially a Land Cruiser again:

However, these things are totally unacceptable. Help @TRAIL TAILOR! You need to make another run of these vents stat!

Maybe doesn’t show in the pic so well but they’re pretty hashed and the little flap things are totally disintegrated.

Seriously, that is awesome news. Thanks Jason!

I reinstalled the snake blinders. Again, I like some chrome on the truck and frankly this was easier than filling the holes.

First a clean up and polish, then add some new OEM clips and back on it went:
