Thank you Matt.
Went to Qld Transport approval person to see what is required to get the correct mod plates. He was happy to sign off on the cage, turbo, seat and seat belts. He did the mod plate on the spot and will post the plate and paper work once I supply photos of some minor work to the cage (needs a 4mm plate under each legs to the cage in addition to a seat belt installed for the driver side. Too easy.

The safety certificate is another matter but easily do able. (smaller tyres, steering wheel, bull bar, shock mount and a few other things. So all in all looking good.

Cheers Gary

Gday Matt,
hey, it's been too long.
Your 40 is gone!
wow.
Best of luck to the new owner. Gary, you must be stoked!

I can't wait to see what you do with your company car.

Oh and yes work has started on making this a little quicker.

I am handing in my thesis in about 2.5 weeks (I hope:crybaby:), but after that sometime I'll have to come out for visit and catch up. I'll bring the two wheeler out.

Where are you going to build a house?

Cheers Beejay 42

I am really pleased with the purchase it was too good a deal to pass up. I had a ball driving her home she went well. Good power ,good steer and brakes what more could you ask for in a forty. In the short term just going to get her registered on the road in Qld, change the oil do the valves and away I go.

Well,
best of luck with it Gary.
I've only had the pleasure of sitting in the passenger seat, but during such I was grinning and giggling like a school girl:princess::grinpimp:
One impressive machine.
My 42 is positively tractor like in comparison.
I hope you have a long and happy ownership.

Hans.

BeeJay that is just class, and I have a full bike license.

Gary good to here you arrived safe and sound, take good care of her, you have a few jobs to do but they are always a work in progress.

270Ltr for 1697ks is pretty goo going too.

1054.5 Miles on 71.3 US gallons

I make that 14.79 MPUSG.

She can  a lot faster but the smile gets bigger too.

Can always build another :)

I think I need to finish building my new house first, the rental I'm in has no room for projects. However the new house has an extra large garage.

Here is my latest creation in design and currently been made to order.

It will take my E34 3.4Ltr BMW 535i and stroke it out to 4.2Ltr. New custom Rods and Pistons too.

You know me no half measures. But no major work on the above project can start as yet. Just gathering the parts.

Nice, how did you go about designing that? what software do you use to draw and analyse it?

:grinpimp:
Nice, did you start off my modelling the standard crank from a sample or get the dimensions and go from there?

I hope to get into more complex modelling as I learn.

I worked from a stock crank and factory specs. The unit is perfectly balanced too as I can also check volume and weight in CAD

That is static balance, how's dynamic balance?

that is one tight fitted manifold, amazing.
i think i read later in the thread about the sizing being wrong but still, that is something to see...
sorry to see you sold it.

did you ever do a full list of the parts you used or are they scattered through out the thread?

the intercooler, what kind of $$$ are they?
Turbo is fitted and all the intercooler work is now complete apart from the coolant plumbing of the water, the straight fittings need swapping out now for either 45 or 90 degrees ones, they were only ever intended for testing.

Next up the stainless 3" exhaust system.

But for now the completed photos.

It's all scattered through the thread I'm afraid.

As for the exhaust manifold few minor issues with internal sizes going from larger to smaller, but fixed and in the thread somewhere.

As for the intercoolers, a kit is $400 you can get your cores on Ebay for $200 so if you can Weld all up $600. If we fabricate it then around $1100-$1300

Regards Matt

$1300 is a decent price considering the workmanship involved ...

so what is the next project? a 79 series with another kickin engine build?

Just a quick update, the 2F-ETI is still going strong, though the owner is thinking of swapping the motor out for a diesel :crybaby:

As for me I now have one of these
