Not sure if I feel comfortable having those cheap chinese navs on my car. I'd rather try to do a OEM nav delete and try to install a head unit from a more reputable brand.

Been there, done that. My 2011 200 came with a factory casette player which I upgraded to a Pioneer 2 DIN AppRadio. Now I have a 10.2" Android and it is way better than the Pioneer. Waze, google maps, netflix, youtube, you name it - all on the screen.

I went with the smaller 10.2" rather than the larger Tesla style units so that in case the radio quits working, I'll still have working HVAC controls.

Yep, I have a 10.1 Android Hu in my minivan. It’s amazing. And flawed. But mostly amazing. When they figure out how to fit one to a factory nav unit (and I suspect it’s wonky amplifier and climate demands) I’ll be first in line. I estimate 18 months.

I was following this thread closely as well as the other large-screen threads that were replacing their Nav with the Chinese solutions. I have almost taken the plunge and ordered the parts list a couple of times. Before I do, I wanted to double check with @TXSunDevil and @HRTROB; do you both agree that my best chance of success (and to keep the 4-zone climate control) is to order the parts list above + the 55900-60F21 climate control? Before I spend the money, I wanted to make sure there wasn't another reason this thread just stopped. This is for my 2010 US-Spec w all options. My ultimate goal would be to keep all existing features working except the nav and rear dvd is ideal but not essential. Thanks!

What I would do is enter your VIN at partsouq.com and see what parts it recommends. When I did my 100 even though I had navigation it didn't realize that. I am thinking that it would give the correct HVAC controllers. Please report back what you learn.

Wow, great suggestion... that site gives a lot of information and nice UI. I also discovered ilcats.ru and toylexparts.com, which gives different descriptions in some cases, so good for cross referencing.

Here is what I believe to be correct so far:
AC Controllers (year, part#, notes)
  • 09.2007-08.2010 - 55900-60F11 - (replaces 60F10) - 4-zone, deicer (cold weather package), auto wipers
  • 09.2007-08.2010 - 55900-60F21 - (replaces 60F20) - 4-zone, No deicer
  • 08.2010-01.2012 - 55900-60F41 - (replaces 60F40) - 4-zone, &EMV+DVD CHANGER+AM/FM JBL 14SPEAKE
  • 01.2012-08.2015 - 55900-60L20 - 4-zone, auto AC
  • 01.2012-08.2015 - 55900-60L40 - 4-zone, AUDIO (OVERSEAS MARKET)-EMV + DVD + AM/FM JBL 14SPEAKER
Some of the information I found conflicts. Some sites say that the L40 goes 01.2012-present. Another reference suggests the F41 is 09.2007-01.2012. Part of me would like to believe the F41 will work for my 02.2010, but I should probably go with F11 to be safe. I just hope it doesn't omit features the F41 might have.

If you're looking to order overseas stuff I highly recommend Partsouq. I've order $$$$ stuff from them for the Troopy. Their diagrams are very good too.

Megazip and their mirror sites (looks like that 3rd pic is from) kind of suck. Out of the 5 orders I placed with them only one went through.

Thank you for the Partsouq recommendation. I went ahead and ordered the AC Controller 60F11 and double din for the GX. Since my goal is to keep as many of the electrical features as possible, I am going to wait to order anything else until I can take a look at the back of the AC controller and really dive into the electrical diagrams. Wish me luck...

I have an EWD for the 2009. I would be happy to look anything up and email it to you or be a sounding board for ideas

That is great, thank you! ^^^
My plan is to first verify that my current head unit and the parts I receive match somewhat with the wiring diagrams. Once i establish that baseline, I will begin mapping what I know and taking stock of the questions and unknowns. It is at that point I could definitely use additional help and input. The parts are scheduled to come this week (which seems crazy fast).

Yeah I've ordered stuff from Partsouq and had them arrive in two days from the UAE. Wild stuff.

Glad to see someone is stepping up with this project. It'll be a killer if it works out..

I'll donate $200 to the test with the expectation I get my money back if it works.

Or if someone local in Socal wants to help with install and diagnosis and all the smart thinker stuff to install on my 13 LC I'll foot the bill.

I Wanted to give an update:

I received my order from Partsouq on Tuesday. I got exactly what I ordered, and it was packaged extremely well. I will definitely use them again.

The AC Control unit I received is the 4-zone I hoped it would be and looks exaclty the same as F41, pictured above. It takes a single F10 plug, which I will need to order (ac control plug is F46 coming out of the Nav unit). I also discovered I do need a clock and the flasher button assembly. I was hoping to use the ones from my existing Nav unit, but they are quite integrated, so I am not going to attempt it. I ordered those and they should be here Tuesday.

Another Note: the double din face plate is actually 4"x8" (roughly) rather than the standard 4"x7". I am trying to decide if I want to add a custom filler piece or do something more elaborate like an Alpine Halo9 or custom ipad mount. The Halo would fit as a single DIN and the large screen would basically cover the opening. If I decide to go all out and install a Soundman ipad mount, I will install it into the faceplate I purchased. The biggest negative for the ipad is the need to launch the reverse camera app (rev image will not automatically display).

I placed my second Partsouq order on Thursday:
Clock assembly: 8391060190
Hazzard switch: 8433260280

Other items I will need, (but am working through the details before order) are:
F10 connector (for AC controller): 90980-11911
F10 repair wires: 82998-12740
160mm 82998-12690
500mm 82998-74060
G1 connector (for clock): 90980-12552
G1 repair wires: 82998-12870
F11 connector (for hazard switch): 82824-21030
F11 Repair wire: 82998-12750

At this point (after tearing out my Nav unit twice and spending many hours with the wiring diagrams), I don't see any reason why this wont work. I hope to know for sure in the next week or two. The audio install I am planning is quite elaborate, so the first phase will be to simply hook up the climate controls and make sure all of that works as intended. From there I can work through the finer details of backup camera, steering wheel controls, etc. At this point, I don't have immediate plans to keep the rear TV, but I think that can be done (in phase III).

Also wanted to say thank you to @TXSunDevil for his help and patience, answering my questions and getting me up to speed. He provided a number of helpful documents and advice. The pinning directions he posted, look to be complete for models up through 7/2009. A word of warning though, the 7/2009-3/2012 have differences in the pin numbers and 13+ are different still.

I was doing some additional research on the Hazard switch situation. The connector that goes into the Hazard switch is part #82824-21030. This is an oddball connector that is also used in other Toyota models. Over on Yaris world they are using that connector to modify the stereo. The users there are reporting repair wire 82998-12870 is the correct wire for the F11. I was unable to find an official Toyota publication that had the repair wire listed. I find it interesting that the F10 plug is different than my EWD shows. Did you get an EWD for your year? I think it would be helpful

IDid you get an EWD for your year?

Yes, I started out using my printed Haynes manual, which was helpful, because it shows the differences between years (sometimes on the same page). This showed me the pin numbers you quoted in your directions (through 07/2009) and some of the changes I needed to make for (07/2009-03/2012). The Haynes manual lacks part numbers or connector names, so I had to look elsewhere. When I got into the details, trying to double check the part numbers for the connectors and their specific repair wires, I was seeing too much variation across various sources to feel comfortable. Therefore I dropped $20 for a 2-day subscription to TIS (bastards raised the price 33% since May), so the part numbers in my last post are directly from the TIS (which I assume are correct).

I have the EWD that covers 2011-2015 if you need any pages from that I can share them...

I received my second Partsouq order and placed a final order for the repair wires and plugs with ToyotaParts. Hopefully those will get here this week.

Yesterday I pulled everything apart again to test fit what I have and to find a couple of the key connections that can't occur with an easy pin swap.

Radio.TestFit.jpg

Most of the connections are available by swapping pins, but the following are a bit more involved:

AC Controller LIN1 to AC Amp (discussed before) - F10#5 to FE4 #8 then to AC Amp Assembly E-36 #20.
AC Controller IG+ (to 10A fuse) - F10#7 to E60 Junct Conn #82. Could I tap into AC Controller E36 #5 (also goes to 10A fuse)?
Clock CANA - G1#6 to Fg1#5 to F22 junct#5/#4 to FE5#5 to ACAN E2#16

I would love help locating: FE4, E60 junct, FE5

@TXSunDevil suggested that Fg1 might exist as an unused plug in the Nav models, but after taking apart the entire center of dash, I can confirm it does not. Sadly, there are no unused plugs in the 200. Therefore I tried to locate FE5, which the diagram shows as being on the right side of the cd module. I was not able to locate it. I did find:

If I can't find FE5, then I need to locate the Main Body ECU E2 (behind far left side of dash). I see the location in the diagram, but the complexity of the wrapped wiring behind the dash is proving to be the biggest obstacle. Any help given is appreciated!
