Hi,
I just bought a 09 Landcruiser with 220k miles this past winter on one of the coldest days. Checked almost everything in the prepurchase inspection, except the AC, which inconveniently doesn’t work and to my knowledge has never since I have owned it. I have a Tesla type flatscreen for the radio/nav/climate controls and the AC button on the Tesla screen has been flashing since purchasing the vehicle. Went to get a AC service hoping it was just low on refrigerant as the compressor wasn’t engaging. Shop said it had plenty of refrigerant and that it was a bad compressor. They replaced the compressor any no dice. They replaced it again hoping it was a just a bad new compressor out the box. No dice again. They said to take it to the dealership and that it was likely a serious electrical problem. Not sure what to try next. Your help is appreciated.

Nice rig.

We need more info. How was the compressor bad? No pressure? Too much? Clutch wouldn’t work? Any corrosion?

I’m going to guess it’s related to the Tesla screen. They have to be configured just right to operate the canbus signals for AC etc.

Can you share what the configuration options are?

+1

This is the biggest reason I've not installed one of these screens. If something goes wrong, Toyota likely won't touch it and the probability of something going wrong increases substantially.
