Anyone know what size the fittings are that screw into a th400 transmission??

Also, i think we may have to pull transmission again:mad:, only 3 of the bolts line up on the flywheel... Does this mean it is the incorrect flywheel? There are 6 bolt holes on the flywheel.

Here is a short clip of it running, sorry for sound quality, the smoke is from the cheap paint that came on the headers, open headers are loud:grinpimp:

1/4" pipe threads...

Great thread, you guys are doing a fantastic job!! Looks like the reason you guys are really getting it done is all the "wrenching fuel" you guys are drinking:  I love this pic with the Natty Ice can floating in a 5 gallon bucket full of oil:

Keep it up!

one other thing to note is you should eliminate how that fan is tied through the radiator...the ties can slowly cut through the radiator. Yeah, you'll say, we are just getting it running and will fix it later. You won't. Then you'll be running a sick trail on the Southern Cruiser Crawl and it will cut through the radiator and the rest of the weekend you'll be drinking moonshine. not a bad thing, but do it once and do it right...

im using 55 springs for the soa in the front, but i thought the center pins were offset alot for good wheelbase, but these bastards are centered. Question is how many inches forward can i drill "safely"?

Some advice if you are going to repair the 55 fenders: don't do what I did and cut out a large portion of the the section where the upper fender meets the lower fender. It is nearly impossible to line everything up right after that. Just do a small 6 inch section at a time. Trust me...my fender is totally jacked now. (unless you are a master with sheet metal) :)

definetely not a master, sheetmetal is a bitch...

but i want to know opinions on drilling the springs how much is too much for wheelbase?

If you want to use hoses with flare fittings I've found an adapter to do that. Go to NAPA auto parts and ask for Weatherhead part # 1446. This item is for 16 X 1.5 mm thread into the O-ring fitting. Weatherhead also had two other sizes, I think they were 14 and 18 X 1.5 mm thread. What I did was to use some bolts to confirm the size. Here's some pics of the part and the O-ring fitting in my PS pump. You've got a gear box instead of a pump, but the fitting should work the same.

40 springs have center pins offset. Use 40 springs and flip them.

Man nothing beats being out of school for the summer. Good times. Glad to see the 55 is getting some attention. I see your using the front axle that was on the 55 and putting it on your 40.

Nice. Love the bricks and the cans.
