You guys sure are creative with the chain mounting points you are using to lift that poor V8... Your valve covers hate you. Were you angry with the old tranny or is there a reason you cut the shifter off instead of removing it?

What did the V8 motor come from and what tranny/transfer combo are you going to run?

pcv

Check that breather on the valve cover is not being used as a substitute for a PCV system.

Looks like fun, what goodies on the motor?

It's great to have help isnt it!

It actually didn't damage the valve covers at all, we have a time limit on our engine hoist and have to have every thing done in 3 days, so i expect it to be almost driveable by today or tomorrow. We cut the tranny shifter cause owner didn't care for s***.

Those chrome valve covers are stronger than I thought. I have done SAS and SOA projects with friends in three days but never a engine swap. Marathon wrenching parties with friends are always good fun. Keep the pictures coming so we can follow your progress. What did you pull that drivetrain from again?

Is that a 55 series with a chopped top off in the corner? Looks good, keep it up man!

well with the 55, and 2 40s its 3 projects:grinpimp:, here some more pics

righton badass!!!!!

gotta love youthful exuberance and enthusiasm. keep up the work and keep posting pics. the cut off shifter got a laugh outta me. would have been a lot quicker just to pop it out of there. LOL

if you have'nt met badass yet, you're in for a treat cause he's a cool cat!

thanks the yellow 40 is mine, the grey 40 is my belongs to my friend chase.

Georg, thanks for supplying both of us with discounted aa adaptors, really appreciate it...

here some more pics of tonights progress, we were hoping that it would be driveable by now, but the tranny is really throwing us back, replacing the out put shaft isn't really easy...

I'll get a video of it running tomorrow if anyone wants to see it.

Battery had to be relocated under drivers seat, couldnt fit it without makin a bracket in the engine bay so we chose the alternative, this batter is for mock up only, it will be replaced with an optima or orbital gel...

You might wanna replace the TRE's while your there if your not going hi steer for a while

no need to change tres, since highsteer is being installed with fj80 ends.;)

Got some more work done today, but not as much as i'd like to have got done. Finished welding up the motor mounts, changed the tranny ouput shaft, connected 3 speed tcase up with the t400 via the advance adapters supplied by Georg (thanks bud!).

Then we connected the motor to the tranny and tcase. Put it on the hoist with a bunch of straps, and in she went. Chase bought the AA crossmember kit, so that made it alot easier and saved some time.

I got the fuel pump wired up as well, it looks pretty ... Radiator is mocked up, Chase just wants to use the stock radiator with a strong electric fan, i advised him against it, but he wants to try it... Any input??

Wiring is done, got most of it cleaned up and wraped in wire loom, but got some left...

Also got most of the shifter for the trans hooked up, its pretty badass. Engine is currently running in the truck!:grinpimp::bounce:

Only things left is small stuff, make driveshafts, get linkages workin, radiator, and fan!

Way to go bud....

See you in Hot Springs in October.

Just want to give you a heads up.

In post 16 pics #3,4, and 5 of the fuel return lines you have a plastic tee in line. It looks like the same thing that I have replaced twice in a van at work, the last time was Friday. In the work van it is in the heater hose line and the small end nipple has broken off twice right where it necks down to the 3/8ths diameter. Apparently the plastic is thin right there and it doesn't take much to break it off. I don't think you want the risk of it breaking and spraying raw fuel inside your cruiser.

Friday I stopped in at Home Desperate and looked around in the plumbing area and I think I found a way to make up that tee with copper and brass pipe fittings that can easily be soldered together. I just need to get the go ahead from my boss to buy the parts (about $10-15) and put it together. If I get the nod I'll post pics of the project.
