Could u pls specify if there is any Freeze Plugs, on the block or Head in the front of the Engine, I mean the part that is ryt near to the windshield
Coz Im leaking antifreeze badly, all hoses are OK and have been checked hundreds of time but I styill see how it goes away, somewhere on the bell of transmission

That is were my HG was leaking, I have seen a few others with the same leek there.

trying to think this thing through.... Want to test the PS pump/gear and the Distributor since i think it has to be one of those.
As for the PS pump, i know it is a destination on the front gears that turn the crank ect, so i know the ps pump doesn't drive anything, but as for oiling the gears, that's where i'm curious.... if i remove the PS pump and start the motor, will oil gush out or is that a smart thing to do in order to narrow down the sound?

if you are nervous about it just set the old pump in the hole for testing, it has no gear on it right?
Do like Rick said and try one without a gear on it. I do not see an issue with that myself, but i am not the pro on these engines.

I just hoped it was something simple like priming the pump.... which needed to be done also.

OK everyone, the tapping is the power steering.
I pulled the new pump and put the old pump in without a gear. Cranked it up and it was smooth as silk!
Now i have to figure out why the pump is making so much noise!! I have inspected the gear and it looks perfectly fine! I used a caliper to make sure it was perfectly round and it is. No teeth missing... And the pump is brand new!!

Here are my thoughts right now and what i think is the plan of action unless someone else has a better idea. I'm still not convinced that it's the gear. I have a funny suspicion that it's a pressure releif valve in the steering gear box that is causing the tap. I think the valve is getting stuck and the pump is cycling the pressure.
So my plan is to put the new pump back in and hook it all back up and feel the pressure line leading to and from the box. See if i can feel it pulsing.
What do yall think?

When you say it's a new pump, do you mean it's a brand new pump from Toyota or brand new reconditioned? (I have a feeling you rebuilt it some time ago)
I can only assume it was making the same noise before you started this project. If it's a new pump from Toyota, I'd be taking it back if it's under warranty. Otherwise, unless you're jammed for cash, I'd just bin it and get a new OEM or new professionally reco'd pump and be done with it. They cost bugger all over here so should cost even less there.

the pump is new from Toyota. I did rebuild the old one (that is when this entire noise started.
As for the gear, i just don't see how it could be. There is no sign of damage, it measures out perfect and the gear inside that drives the pump was inspected before it was installed and it was perfect.
Does the pump have any type of warranty?
If it does just change it with a new one and start from there.
If it doesnt, well, maybe buy a rebuild kit and pry the sucker open and switch the gear from the old one? (just to get the gear posibility out of the way)
A rebuild kit is not that expensive, as you probably already know.
Just think, by the time you solve this problem you will be a Toyota PS pump expert!

1. I rebuilt the first pump with the rebuild kit from Toyota. Tapping....
2. I bought a new pump from Toyota and installed it. Tapping....
So i have done both of those things. It's hard for me to believe that either buying another pump or rebuilding the old pump, again, will stop the noise.
As for warranty, i'm not sure, maybe Beno will chime in. I know that i have had the pump for a few months sitting on the shelf. It only has about 5 minutes worth of use on it. Not sure how that would work, or if i'm supposed to pay shipping on a warranty part shipped from NC back to NM and then shipping for a new pump from NM back to NC?
