you can definitely buy ethanol free in Colorado and we use 85 hereThere are a few states that run 85, that's why I asked. You also cannot buy non-ethanol in those states.
True for UT as well EDIT: @OrangeCrusher beat me to it.
@DodgeH8TER, are you factoring the different tire size into your
Yeah. I did the same thing in my ranger when gas was cheap. Tried 85,87, and 91 but didn't get anything to excite me. But running 91 in the cruiser may help because it will burn hotter and help clean out carbon in the cylindersIf you aren't experiencing any pinging, running 87 is just pouring money into the tank for no gain.
Can't hurt anything but your wallet to try a tank or two.
My F150 work truck 100% runs better on 87. It pings badly on regular everytime you accelerate. With 87, I don't notice it happening at all.
Yup. We only run Ethanol free in our bikes so we don't wreck fuel lines in them from sittingyou can definitely buy ethanol free in Colorado and we use 85 here
Higher octane does not burn hotter. When needed because of Higher compression and/or forced induction Higher octane is more resistant to the destructive properties of pinging and detonation. Which explains why Higher octane sometimes causes poorer fuel economy. In those cases the user suffers a double whammy to the wallet; pay more for the fuel and don't go as far, i.e. MPG is worse.Yeah. I did the same thing in my ranger when gas was cheap.
