1FZ-FE Newbie w/big problem (no oil pressure)

They charge more for the amount of oil used.

It could be part of their scheme to get people in. They have a “quick lube” department and then their service department. Maybe their hope is that people bring their cars their for oil changes and get in the habit so they go their when something bigger needs done.

Frankly, the dealership has treated me right since I was 16. They also sell me parts at “jobber” cost.

Over the years I’ve become friends with the GM. Good dude. Well run dealership.

It happens, we have a good Toyota dealership here too. I wouldn't be asking too many questions if I was getting $30 oil changes there.:poof:

my old hood when in Iowa, still decent area?

Haha. They advertise $25.99 oil changes (up to 5-6 qts). So an extra 3 qts of bulk 5w-30 semi synthetic doesn’t seem ridiculously off.

My wife just took our Camry Hybrid in and had the oil changed and both air filters were horrible. I had changed the air filters myself last time because I didn’t want to pay for OEM filters. The total for the oil change and both filters was $60. I freaking paid $20 per filter at AutoZone! Haha.

Pie, cookies, popcorn, fountain soda, Starbucks. All free.

Come to think of it, maybe they have a backend deal with a diabetes drug company...or a gym.

As Jules from Pulp Fiction once said after hearing about how awesome Europe was, "Oh man! I'm goin'!"

I kinda gotta see this place for myself and I bet it will be considerably warmer and nicer there in about 6 weeks than it will be here. :hmm:

I’ll record a video of the spread when I go next time. It’s not far from my work. I need to see the GM about some take off wheels he has for me for one of my 80s...

^^^^^^ Damn! I live in the oil capital of the U.S. (Texas) and you won't find it here that cheap.

You sure they aren't putting like 'cooking oil' in it. ;) Heck of a good deal.

They probably figure I need a break since I am burning about a quart per 800-1000 miles...

Suppose I should switch out my wix. I've been running them for the last 10yrs without issue, but as I follow some of the later threads it raises an eye brow for sure.

You don’t drive yours enough to blow it up...

I think that area's all under water now......Has been for a few years now.

We were near the top of a decent hill, I think the whole city would be under water if that house was. River overflowed?

I think it took me to 10th st nw. Is that correct? What block? Or what was your address?

Can’t confirm yet...

Northgate drive near a Christian academy, that was 30 years ago and I have never been back.

Haha. It’s not a special price just for me. It’s standard!

I wonder if @Dudleyfj40 and @FIVEmanTR10 know this deal. I think Dudley changes his own oil. But he’s got two 80s. We had four combined at the dealer once. Counting Peter.

I get oil changes for like $22.00 since they have me as a Toyota Financial Employee

I noted earlier someone was using Bosch filters, I was too until I found mine was draining back to the sump. Unfortunately since Bosch outsource pretty much everything with their name on, it must be said quality has fallen.

Only reason I used Bosch is because the nearest dealer is bloody miles away!

Guess where I get my filters now!

Regards

Dave

I am honestly puzzled. Millions of people are using WIX filters every day and virtually every NAPA shop is mounting them to vehicles. Where is the factual evidence that these oil filters are responsible for the failures and not the time they were mounted, how they were installed, or any other factors?

I am just trying to find real evidence as to why I should stop using these filters when they have served pretty well.

Read the thread about the WIX filters. My question is why even take the risk? The Toyota filters are readily available and as cheap as any other filter. If you don't change your own oil, just bring your own filter and ask for a discount for the filter they would have provided.
