Hi guys, I've got a '74 FJ55 (Iron Pig) that I have to sell and not sure what it's worth and realistic to ask. Here's a breakdown of what has been done, along with a few pics. Appreciate any feedback you can provide. Thanks.

It starts and runs well, however it is over 40 years old and has not been restored. It has a strong 2F engine out of a '77 Cruiser with headers and a Weber carburetor. The the transmission is the stock 4 speed manual with a 3 speed transfer case (2 high, 4 high, and 4 low). The front axle has been converted from an FJ60 which has disc brakes, birfield hub and axles. The power steering was converted from a Toyota mini truck which was done by Iron Pig Off Road. IPOR also did the massive Trail Blazer front bumper, rear bumper and rock sliders. The lift is a spring over axle conversion which adds 6 inches to ride height. The rear end is stock 4.11 gears and is welded. The front has 4.11 gears and a Lock Rite differential. The previous owner converted it to an electric choke and painted it a matte black with a rust inhibitor. I've added new wheels and tires (Nitto Terra Grappler 295/70R/17), new front shackle bushings and tie rods and replaced all rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes. The brake pedal will pump up, but bleeds off pressure. Things that do not work on this vehicle are the radio, heat, door locks, fan, and rear tall lights.

Really hate to sell "Kilowog," but I'm moving and can't take him with me.

Not trying to price gouge. Had it listed around 10 originally, then was told only worth 7ish. That's why I'm asking on here. Thought I'd get more honest feedback. I need to sell it. I just want to be fair and realistic in what I ask. So what is your opinion on the value?

You deleted it now but I saw you had it listed on CL for $7500. Not very smart to come to an enthusiast forum and try to price gouge. Good luck.

Nicely done.

Lots of rusty 60s that people are asking more for. The internet sniping is off-putting. If you don't like the asking price, don't buy it.... or offer what you think is fair. Suggesting "$10 000?" when told we need somewhere to start with for a price sounds sensible to me.

blah blah blah...

Welcome to Mud kilowog. Hope you find this solid looking pig a good home.

I think it looks cool. Some people are too grouchy! I know that I've been forced to ping-pong around on the price of things when I wan't sure what they were worth.
*smiles and waves. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the reinforcements. Anybody experienced in fair value for the 55s? Would love some input on a price range I should Be asking. I do know it's only worth what someone will pay.

That all depends on the rust... mechanicals are not nearly as expensive as body work.

Post pictures of the truck’s body/frame previously requested and you’ll get a better idea of the value of your truck.

How does it drive with that much lift? Front shackle angle looks close to 90 degrees-not ideal.

What @SuperDuperCruizer said is exactly correct. I did not mean to insult with my first comment, however it is certainly worth mentioning you had it listed on another medium for over $2k less only a few days ago. People like transparency. Be honest and realistic. Condition of the mechanicals are one thing, but degree of rust is what is paramount. Post pics of wheel wells, rain gutters, frame, axles, engine bay, rocker panels etc. that will be the only thing that provides a true valuation of your truck. I, like most on this forum, would happily purchase a non-running, rust free 55, but would run away from a running, swiss cheese Pig. You need more detailed pictures.

If I saw this on CL I would think...yikes..run. To me its a $3k to $4k truck given that I'd be in for an instant suspension swap to bring it down to a height I'd be comfortable with. All the little issues sort of add up for me and make me think there are probably lots more that I'll have to deal with to have a truck I want to go out in.

The market for this setup is for the person who wants a cruiser to go bang around in the woods with....and hard to say if someone wants to spend a lot of money on a truck they know they are going to break.

just my .02....feel free to dismiss.

55s are always rusty and patch panels are hard to come by. If your 55 is solid that is probably the biggest factor in determining value. Non stock color scheme and SOA will turn off a lot of buyers. Reversing a SOA is not that difficult though, much easier than rust repair. Pics of the floor pan, fenders, frame to show amount of rust will help. From just the pics you've shown it looks better than a lot I have seen in the 5k range. GLWS.
