One of the nicer restos I've seen. I don't care for the fake cad plating, nor for the door panels, but I really have to look around to find flaws with this one. Original screws in the barn doors, properly painted.

I think the emissions covers should be pewter. On a '76-'78 there's black sticky tar insulation on the top/outside of the tranny tunnel cover. Picky, eh?

For 75 grand whoever buys this has the right to be picky. Agree about the door panels and Cad. Also, one of the door panels is ripped.

Should be perfect at this price.

First of all it's a 74, not an 83 with PS and A/C. Not sure why they did the door panels like that. It's nicely done but not in keeping with a stock restoration. I seriously doubt the low mileage. The seats would not need to be recovered, the factory mats would be there. It's a beautiful truck for sure but I don't think Barrett Jackson could get 75K on a good day.

Using fakey Cad plating paint is a big negative for a restoration. Also noted was the rusty rear heater.

All of the 1974 FJ40's I have owned had door panels that looked like this.

fyi that door is not from a 74 for sure... 74 had a one year handle. or it was from a very early 74, using up old parts from toyota. but either only some of the 74 had the inner door panel, but they all had the one year handle (to my knowledge). when I redid my doors I wanted a one year handle (mine that came on my truck were shot) but they are too difficult to find and expensive. look at this thread. plus a 74 would not have bench seats. guessing you just posted a misc pic.

74 was a transition year. Roll bar, 4-speed, bucket seats, etc. I have owned a 74 and it didn't have door panels but it appears as if some, or many of them did! Learn something new every day!

doors are correct, some 74's came into the US with those panels

the adhesive holding the weather stripping on could have been cleaned up better
door panels ARE date correct
agree the fake cadium looks tacky
what is with the chain on the front?
for that price i do hope the engine, tranny, t/case, diffs were all properly rebuilt.

looks pretty damn clean to me, nice refurb.
