I had trouble starting Mavis yesterday so replaced the battery. Also replaced the negative terminal.

Good thing, because today I drove 8 hours to rescue an elderly boxer.

Man, it makes me so happy to see you getting to put so many miles on your 40! Especially since most of them are in the name of helping dogs, several of which have never known kindness before you came along. Your good karma will follow that rig like a cloud of perfume for decades after you've completed your mission.

We are slowly moving between the old house and the new house when I got a call to take a rescue Pyrenees from the kennel to a groomer for the first time in his life. He smelled "special".

He is the world's best boy though, and allowed me to pet his feces embedded tummy. While driving back to our old house to get a load of boxes, received an emergency notification. There was a sweet baby in Memphis that was scheduled to be euthanized. Despite an 18 wheeler rolling over in front of me and getting stuck in traffic, I managed to get there in time to give this sweet girl her freedom ride.

Our kids also moved to town the same day we moved out here. It was a typically neglected military community rental house, so I spent the day cleaning trash and sticks out of the yard. I loaded up Mavis in order to get this picture to post here to show we were doing work.

I was planning a bonfire on the farm, so I was driving it out to our place, when I saw a dog wobbling down the centerline of a busy 4 lane highway. Because I'm me, I enlisted other motorists to block off traffic and coax this good boy into my rig.

I posted on social media among fellow rescuers and discovered this good boy was over 15 years old and had got lost over 20 miles away, on the other side of the Cumberland River, and had been lost for 5 days. He reunited joyfully with his family.

Overall it was a very good day.

Fence got put in this week, and now my sweet boy Charley is sick. He's a 3 year old American Staffy and is normally a rollicking love bug, but is lethargic sick boy right now. $300 in tests later we are waiting until Monday to find out what's wrong.

because that what he wants to do right now.

Had a friend drop by to see how he's feeling .

Looks like an Eastern newt.

BTW, I fixed my leaky door problem with some household door gaskets I found at the hardware store.

So... Turns out adolescent Eastern Newts are deadly poisonous. Little ****er was returning to the scene of the crime.
