CCOT bumper going on tomorrow with the 8274 I kind of rebuilt. I needed to wire wheel some surface rust and put a quick coat of paint on the end of the frame rails and also the plates that sit on top of them that support the bumper.
Am I the only one that wire wheels bolts of they have some rust on them?

Well….went from a complete seized-geared (from rust) 8274 to a working 8274. Took it completely apart…wire wheeled, electrolysis, replaced the motor with a used good one as the motor was toast. Just need a hook and some cables, but spooled in and out well. Picked up the CCOT bumper from @cims1970fj40 last week. Let me tell everyone how fun it was getting the bolts tightened on the inside of the bumper!! That thing is stout as can be. Used a floor Jack to raise the 8274 into place to bolt it on. The end cap is 3D printer from a guy on Facebook…and I used nail polish to color it. Also, had to get the dancing bears and Phish plate frame on there.

Recently I’ve been having a stall-ish issue when coming to a stop. Weber 32/36 carb. Before I rebuild the carb (which I’ve never done a carb before) I decided to check some easy stuff.
I have the age appropriate glass fuel filter I need to install but still ironing out all the fittings I’m going to need still and need to get new fuel line. The 40 came with one of those cheap plastic filters between the fuel pump and the carb. I replaced the plastic filter with one of the glass K&N filters. The plastic filter had a bunch of junk in it. The 40 also had a fuel pressure regulator before the carb, but no idea if it worked so I installed a fuel pressure gauge between it and the carb. I’ve read that the Weber likes to be at 3-4 psi. When I installed the gauge it was at like 1 psi. I turned it and got it to 3 psi. Hopefully that will help. I haven’t had a chance to drive it yet, but fingers crossed.

Does anyone know which exhaust manifold gasket works on the ‘64 F engine? All the sites say 68+ for the years of F engine. Maybe it is the same. If those will work, should I do the Remflex?

I posted on Facebook bc I wanted to get the exhausted manifold gasket for my ‘64. Not easy to find, but CruiserOutfitters had it. Also ordered the engine plate gasket, valve cover gasket, and the rubber valve cover grommets. Kurt saw one of my posts where I was looking for Toyota Trails as well just to have with my manuals, etc. He said he’d send a few. I get the box delivered…it is super heavy and I was like ‘Gaskets don’t weigh this much’. He sent me 9 Toyota Trails!! So awesome! Thanks Kurt and his team!

I bought my ‘64 from Casey Campbell last year. He was really sick and has since passed. He was the treasurer of either TLCA or maybe his TLCA chapter. I had it shipped and been a great project mostly within my skill set. Today I received a very heavy box from his daughter. I had no idea what it was or that it was even coming. When they were going through all of his belongings, they decided to send me all of his Land Cruiser memorabilia. Shocked isn’t even the word. I only spoke to Casey a few times, but my heart strings got tugged on a little bit. If anyone has any stories or pics when he owned the 40, I’d love to hear them or see them.
